Hi,
Hi Shanna27Shanna27:
Can I check, what time does the student care centres open until? My only concern is not in time to fetch her after wrk. If she is in my alma mater n the student care would be nearby my parents place, if I can't fetch her in time, I still have my family members to help fetch her as they are all working in town area.
These are the info I've learned from all the helpful parents here. If i'm not mistaken usually till 7pm, each before/after school care has it own practices. If you decide to put her in a school near your place, have you decided which schools? Whether it is single session? You should check its balloting history especially more if you'll be in phase 2C. Good idea to check if the schools you're interested in have in house or nearby before/after school care.
I'm currently intending to switch jobs (or at least by next yr) so, unless the next job requires no OT and can end work by 530pm, it would be pretty hard to fetch her b4 7pm cos i usually need about an hour to get to work (currently working at CBD area).
If i were to place her in a pri sch near my hse, it would be Rivervale pri sch, which is just below my blk. if im not wrong i read on the other thread that RP will hv a in house student care starting this yr.
But i checked the balloting history for Phase 2C, and the applicants are usually almost twice the no. of seats allocated. That's why, if we don't manage to get into RP, then we probably have to put her in another sch in SK. -
Parents staying in Serangoon or ang mo kio :-
This coming Saturday, (4 may 2013, 9am - 12.30 pm), moe has organized a p1 seminar.
A few schools in Amk and Serangoon are involved: -

Parents have to note that Roysth School will not be involved. Rosyth School is categorised under Ang Mo Kio, even though Rosyth School official address is Serangoon North. Most parents will take the risk to go through balloting at Rosyth and in the event that it's unsuccessful, the parents usually register the children in Zhonghua Primary School.Parents staying in Serangoon or ang mo kio :-

Important note for Parents: If your child is not academically inclined, please do not put your child in Rosyth School. The reason is that those weaker ones will be grouped in one class \"so called the Weak class\", I feel that this is demoralising for a child who is a slow learner but has to study at a superior school because the parents want it. Please spare a thought for your child. If your child has difficulty in grasping concepts or phonetic, grammar, whatever English or Math or 2nd Language knowledge fast, please do not do injustice to your child by enrolling in Rosyth School. In fact, Zhonghua Primary is good school that nurtures children of different abilities and do not judge children based on academic. The only thing is that Zhonghua Primary School is quite far from the bus stop and has to walk quite a long way in. Alternative will be send the child to school in school bus.
Zhonghua Primary School has quite a number of students with high PSLE score. Check out their website.
Please spare a thought for your child parents. Rosyth School is just a nice name to say when people asked you which school your child is attending. -

My suggestion to you: 1st choice you can put Rivervale. 2nd choice will be those new schools in SK with student care inhouse service. You should short list at least 2 schools for Phase 2Cs in the event can't ballot into Rivervale Primary though u stay within 1 km. 3 new schools that began operation in Sengkang this year are Palm View Primary, Sengkang Green Primary and Springdale Primary. Remember new schools come with new facilities. But that doesn't mean the teachers are all new. There could be very experienced teachers who seek transfer to these new primary schools.
If you prefer established schools to new schools, you may consider North Spring Primary or Compassvale Primary or Sengkang Primary or North Vista Primary. Browse through all the primary school websites to get more info on their programmes and whether there will be inhouse studentcare. It's better to choose inhouse student care service than external student care service. Because the inhouse student care teachers will collaborate with your child's primary teachers and they can do a follow-up if necessary.
Good luck to you! -

This is very true. Sometimes experienced teachers seek to request for transfer to the new schools, for personal reasons.
For new schools, should also find out who is the new principal holding the leadership position. Find out more about these principals' background and feedback about them, in their previous schools ' position before they came over. -
Hi
Just to check on an important issue..We adopted our son :imcool:
Does biological kids (non-adoptive kids) bully adoptive kids? How considerate are the school teachers & fellow classmates?
Any important tips about to reveal it or not?
Parents who wish to pm me on this, please... :please: pm me
thanks for all the help :thankyou: -
Its me again…
Should I have 1 school for 2b, 1 school for 2c & 1 school for 2cs??
or is it ok, that i try in the same school for 2b & 2c…& have a different school for 2cs?
Your opinions please -

Agree that principal's leadership is important. Take for example. Nan Chiau's ex-principal was transferred to Endeavour Primary which was a relatively new an unknown school back then. The principal did such a good job leading the school to make it a school that requires balloting within 1 km for Phase 2C for past 3 years. Sad to say that Endeavour's 1st Principal that was from Nan Chiau Primary had to leave Endeavour Primary School after 5 years. Now that principal is currently Henry Park's principal. Henry Park is indeed blessed with this excellent principal for next 5 years. Parents who are thinking to enrol your child in Henry Park, wait no more. The principal is a rare gem in education industry. Henry Park Primary will be brought to greater heights by the new principal, Mr Chia Soo Keng.semgal:

Dear Parents,
I am in a dilemma!! I can’t decide if I should go for Kong Hwa or North Vista which is just next to my block. My husband is an ex-student from Kong Hwa and hence will be P2A2. Friends were suggesting I should go for Kong Hwa and request for transfer to Nan Chiau later since both schools under Hokkien Huay Kwan. But what are the chances of transferring as I’m staying within 1-2 km and when will be the best time to request for transfer? I have a younger one born in 2010 and due to register for P1 in 2016.
Please advise. Thanks! -

Hi, for your case it's P2A2. Confirm can get into Kong Hwa. If your child can endure waking up very early in the morning and travelling long distance on school bus to get to school, you can go for Kong Hwa. A very good school in terms of academic and moral development. But you know your own child's best! If your child cannot endure the long distance travelling back and fro and waking up very early in morning, it will do your child good if you enrol in a school just within 1 km from where you live. Involve the primary school selection with your child too. The one who will study in the school is our children, not us parents. So the child has a say too in which school your child prefers, near to house or very far away but excellent school.Dear Parents,
