iMediaShare - Linking Smart phone to Smart TV
-
timtamfan:
I got my TV about 1.5 yr ago, and at that time didn't know what to look out for - just got the cheapest range. Got no in-built WiFi, although got a WiFi dongle to connect to my wireless modem. But I think got some DLNA standard that i had installed to my laptop such that even if not connected via cable, i can play movies and photos from my laptop, to show on the TV. will PM you.
Err no, I have Samsung phone (old Note) and LG Smart TV. PM me separately and see if we can reproduce what I did on your setup. The connectivity protocol is via WiFi so it's not proprietary to any brand of either phone or display (except perhaps they have to adopt the DLNA standard which is very old).atrecord:
Apparently if you have a samsung smart phone and a samsung smart TV, samsung has an app that allows you to connect the 2 devices wirelessly quite seamlessly.
The same goes for LG (and I suspect other brands too).
The problem with me (perhaps with others too) is that I have LG smart TVs at home, then later I bought samsung smart phone, and when I researched how to connect them - even calling up samsung and LG resp. - I was told that cannot cross-connect
so no choice went to buy the cable... -
I bought my MHL cable from a very nice KS forum mummy, that comes with very clear instructions on how to fix and use and it works! Very excited.
Resolution will be a little compromised but good enough for me.
& errrr … what to do with the wrongly bought micro HDMI/HDMI ah? -

Congrats! Don't throw away the micro HDMI to HDMI cable. Many new laptops come with the micro HDMI cable in place of the VGA. Some tablets also have that micro HDMI port. Your cable will come in useful if you want to connect your laptop to the TV or projector.I bought my MHL cable from a very nice KS forum mummy, that comes with very clear instructions on how to fix and use and it works! Or camera too... I got a camera in Sep 11 with micro HDMI. asked wife to buy a micro HDMI to HDMI cable in Oct when she went to China, then in Nov, bought 2 china tablets, and both came with a cable each... wasted...
