I forgot to include my question: Is it possible for the person with the lower T-score to get 3rd lang in this case?

If it's an actual case, then you should know the answer. Furthermore, we do not know the selection criteria for 3rd lang. MOE has said it's based on PSLE results. But they did not reveal explicitly which part of the results.

Exactly! And if the affected party felt that he/she had been unfairly disqualified, then should go after MOE. I donch think anyone here has an answer.

I thought 3rd language result is given together with the school posting? if i recall correctly… and it is centralised at MOELC, not at school level?

In PSLE result slip it just indicate that one is qualified for 3rd Lang/foreign language. Rember there is 3 category. So for cat 3 - foreign Lang, need to be in top 10%.

However I remember reading somewhere stating that the foreign Lang vacancies may be less than total applicants & the vacancy will then be allocated based on results. I suppose same for 3rd Lang.

Hi everyone, I just want to share my thoughts on this… that good score in PSLE and going to good secondary is highly sought after (by parents especially) as that will mean putting your child in good stead in the coming O’s, A’s and chances of getting into local U. I agree with this totally so always try to push my DD to do her best because I know (and she knows) that she is far from doing her best yet.

Besides for academic reasons, a good secondary school also means higher chance in getting to know friends who are more diligent and disciplined… (generalization here, please don’t flame me!) something that most parents try hard to instil in their kids… For most and in general, your secondary school friend(s) are your friends into adulthood and for life… I feel it is important to put my children in good secondary schools as the formative years are so crucial, the environment they are in, the friends they network with etc. all help to shape the formative years…

Well, just my 2-cents… My wish is for DD to do her best and able to get into her school of choice. If DSA is successful that will make me sleep better at night… but doing her best and seeing improvement is key!

My two daughter both scored 270, so I would say the mark to be considered to be good is 250 and above.

                  Hope this helped! :imanangel:

I have DD in Sec 1 and Sec2 this years in 2 diiferent schools. Based on experience, PSLE score of around 248+2 minimum to enter top 10 Sec schools. It really depend on your needs.

250 & above is actually top 10% of the PSLE cohort. Hwa Chong, Nanyang & Raffles require 26X

Do not expect such a huge difference in T-score among the primary schools.

\"For the 2012 PSLE, the lowest median aggregate score recorded by a primary school was 160 while the highest median aggregate score was 240. If we include Gifted Education Programme (GEP) students, the highest median score would be 247.\"
