As if COE on cars not costly enough, now they also imposed COE on motorbike

Erm, isn’t there COE in motorbikes all these while?
-
The COE went up for motorbikes. According to the article it is a huge jump from $3000 6 months ago to $12000 for renewal next month.

\"$3000 6 years ago to $12000 (this month)\".
The base price of a moped or scooter is less than $3,000. The price of the piece of paper to have an opportunity of owning it costs 4x more :siao: -

:salute: I think it is time to list the average price of a car against the current COE, so that we can all see how ridiculous this scheme has become.

Note the magic formula :
:salute: I think it is time to list the average price of a car against the current COE, so that we can all see how ridiculous this scheme has become.
Price at showroom =
(Omv x 2.4 )+ coe + dealers margin -
If the scheme is ridiculous, then don’t buy car lah…just call a cab or grab or take bus and MRT.

Well for some it is their livelihood. Taxi, grab, food delivery, pte school transport, etc. For those who are corporate client reps, having their own transport makes it easier for them to zip around meeting with clients.
My handyman had to give up his truck because of rising cost of owning one and the high COE. While he saved on the cost of owning and maintaining his vehicle, his earnings have dropped too as he is unable to respond as fast and effectively as before where he has all his tools in his truck and whatever is not available he can easily drive out to buy them. I asked him if the savings covers the drop in income, he says for now yes. It is also no joke lugging his tools around and taking public transport. I told him time to slow down and consider retiring. He say yes about time, not getting any younger.
