Integrated Programme (IP)

Anyone knows about HSP(humanities scholarship programme) or the likes being offered to year 3 and 4 students in IP schools? What is it about? Is it to prepare them better for the MOE selection to the actual HSP? Is it time-consuming? My DD has been selected to do HSP and we wonder if it’ll take up time in her already very full schedule.

some info for PSLE students/parents on the COP for top IP schools

Hi, I am not sure whether anyone is still posting in this thread, but I really need help and advice.
If my DD was admitted via DSA to a IP Stream, at the end of IP4, can she apply to polytechnic via the DAE (Direct Admission Exercise) ? Is she still bounded by the DSA-Secondary contract to go to the designated JC ?
Pls help to reply if you have the information.
Thank you. -
Hi iron-man,
You need to read the school’s requirements - email them and confirm before you accept the Co/apply dsa (but i feel they may not entertain prior to dsa because a lot of parents may be inquiring).
My ds1 dsa to his sec school and the confirmation letter we received stated specifically 6 years commitment. 4 years on, I inquired with the same school for Ds2 under a different domain, IP too. The staff told me commitment is 4 years.
For certain schools with Olevel stream/class, kids that are deemed more suitable for structured olevel curriculum and are streamed to olevel classes because they didn’t meet a benchmark, will take olevel and move on to (other/same) JC/poly regardless if they dsa or not. I believe this is when dsa kids in this stream are no longer bound for 6 years . If your co commitment states 6 years and you are doing fine in ip stream, I don’t think the school allow you to switch jc, but to poly can be a case-by-case basis (as it is essentially exiting the IP system to pursue another study route). Don’t take my word for it. Best to check with school. -
Thank you Jedamum.

Sorry for posting this here but somehow I cannot open a new Forum page. Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer to another JC after completing 4 years at an IP school? I have heard of successful cases and is planning to contact the JC. What other criteria must be met for the transfer to happen?

There were cases in the past who were successful in transferring to another IP JC after completing 4 years at an IP school (only for those who did not enter the IP school via DSA). However, what I heard recently is that MOE has instructed all IP JC Ps not to allow such transfer, even if the students did not DSAed into their current IP school at P6. The rationale is that once the child enters into an IP school (whether DSA or PSLE scores), the commitment to the IP programme is 6 years, so child needs to fulfill the commitment. I'm not too sure for non-IP JCs, but I think you must have strong reasons for the transfer too. Best to contact the JC you have in mind to confirm. -
Thank you for the info mommyNg. There are some IP schools I feel are suitable (our needs) for Year 1-4. But I (personal preference) am not keen in their affiliated IP JCs.
-
But isn’t it strange that if those students are not keen in their Affliated JCs in the first case, then why bother to choose enrol into the affliated IP school, and then come to end of Y4, try ways and means to seek Transfer out, into some other better JC ?
Are they not creating a situation to trap themselves in, in the first case ? -

DS has a friend who DSAed to Year 1 and at the end of Year 4 he DSAed again to another JC because he was unable to cope with the IP school. He is in JC1 now. So, I guess it is possible (unless if MOE change their rules next year). I don’t know what criteria must be met. You’d better contact the JC you want to go to.
