CMA Math - Discussion

My gal just turned 4 yrs old and I have been thinking of sending my gal for CMA class.
Has just arrange for her to go for an assessment at the Marine Parade branch this afternoon. Has anyone’s child attended at this branch? Is the teacher good?
Also, can I use anyone’s reference for the discount should I decide to sign up?
Thanks! -

Hey... lemme know if you managed to get your child in. I'm thinking of CMA for my daughter too, just to see how it works... she can now confidently write all her digits except for her mirror 7 and \"sleeping\" 8 :).My gal just turned 4 yrs old and I have been thinking of sending my gal for CMA class.

Hi all,
I am torn between sending my close-to-4 yr old to a CC that charges 1/3 the price of CMA Abacus, and CMA. I can see good results from a friend who sent her kid to the CC, and not-so-good results from another friend who sent her kid to CMA. Both the kids have attended the respective abacus courses for 2 years, the CC kid got full marks in math exams but the CMA kid got only 80 marks as he always make careless mistakes.
Despite this, I am very tempted to send my kid to CMA, knowing that they use 2-hand techniques. Potentially if my kid can move up at a much faster rate using 2-hand compared to 1-hand method, I am willing to pay the price differences. However, I do not want to decide based on just one super-kid from CMA featured to TV.
Can parents with children attending CMA for more than 2 years share your views? TIA. -

I would say each child is different. It is very much depends on child's interest, ability. Whether it is CMA or CC abacus, both will help in children's brain development. The different is CMA using two hands. but if the child is careless, no matter which course she/he attend, it is not going to be perfect.Hi all,

I have a friend whose elder son & 2nd son had completed 2 years abacus training. According to her, both of them had great sense in numbers and great memory. She firmly believe that abacus did help and sent her daughter to CMA too. That's what I heard from her. Again, it is her personal experience, not represents all the students in CMA. -

My kid is in his second term in CMA Bukit Batok. So far, it is ok, the lady teacher teaching him produces some student that won some award. There are a few workbook that they need to do as homework, and I just make my kid do one page of each workbook everyday.
So far, my kid have been quite happy attending the class there and getting along with the other kid quite well. -
Thanks Phantom.
Understand that the branch is relatively new. What award did the student win and do you know how long was the student trained by this teacher (presumably the ctr mgr too)?
