Thanks for providing the info. Gave us the added assurance
dangdang has a huge market in China and is over 10 years old. I have ordered from dangdang many times, and while I was working in a university in China, I saw many people ordering from dangdang. It is a reliable website, like http://www.amazon.com. -
The safest way is to plan a holiday trip to China, like Guangzhou, then order from dangdang.com. They allow cash on delivery, that means you do not need to use any credit cards. I can also confirm that they deliver to hotels. But make sure that you stay at the hotel long enough to receive the books.
In your order form, you can see where your books will be coming from. Most books should come from the province you are located in. These books usually arrive within 1 to 2 days. However, some books may have to come from Beijing, then your entire order will take up to 5 working days to arrive.
Another note about using credit cards. You can ask the bank to stop payment for any transaction that you think is unauthorized, or simply report loss of the card. I think every credit card now protects you from any liability.
I have used my credit cards to buy from dangdang for about 20 times now without any problems. dangdang has even readily refunded to me when I made multiple payments for the same order by mistake.
For those who do not have credit card or are still worried about buying online, the National Library has many of these books. The entire series of įŽįŦæĨčŪ° books (suitable for P4 and above), and the entire series of éž å°åž(must have books for every child, suitable for 2 years old and above) are available in the library. Reservation of a book costs $1.55.

You can even recommend a book to the library
I have recommended 2 books before, and they are very willing to buy the books.
There is a You Yi bookshop at Bras Basah Center level 3, selling many books from dangdang.com. The prices are much more expensive, but at least you can browse before you buy. -

True is much more expensive. However, æéčķį and want to make use of the school holiday no choice have to pay more. BTW, those books that I bought are wonderful and worth keeping. -

No lah. I'm not sure if the bank will accept (but can try right?). But I've ever lowered my limit to 1.5k.
Your credit limit is $300?hquek:
so far my max is S$300....and that's a LOT of books.
I am thinking can we set to a very low credit limit for any credit card to limit our liability -

Hi tamarind
Sometime DD will have promotion price for 2 or a few days. Any idea if I put the book into my shopping cart without payment (lock the price first) while searching for more books, if I make the payment after promotion period, will they still honour the promotion price?
Thanks. -

My machine is used mainly for document processing and accessing financial sites. For Internet surfing, & transaction, I used a Virtual Machine (VMWare). Will not worry about malware in my virtual machine as I refreshed the image frequently
The thing to worry about is trojan horse viruses in your computer

I have not encountered that situation before. But I know that when we submit the order, the website will check the availability of the books again, so I guess it will also update the price. My guess is that the price will be updated to the current price, not the promotion price. I am guessing only, anyone else who has encountered this, please comment.
