      What is ispark? :?

In HCI they got 4 consortium (groups). iSpark is the consortium for those from GEP or high achiever. They'll be together till Yr4.
The rest of students will be divided into the other 3 consortiums.

Saying ISpark is for high achievers is not quite accurate.
ISpark is for Geppers n those strong in Maths, they use different Maths textbooks fr d other 3 consortiums.

Just to share, came across a mainstreamer's case: got WL1 (as good as CO) from HCI DSA via phase 2. SMOPS bronze and not sch rep for any sport. Put HCI as his first choice and later posted to ispark. Was told reason: did very well in his GAT, entry test(Eng, Chin & Math) and interview during DSA.

        What is ispark? :?

Oops! HCI subdivide into 4 consortiums, ispark is the one that run the SBGE (school base GE programme). All GEPpers and some selected mainstreamers are put in ispark. Students of any consortiums who are talented at any subject can choose at sec 3 to join special talent course, such as math or Science, humanity ...etc will be housed in CSE and will be out of their consortium. At year 5, all students can choose to do any subjects again and no more consortium.

Hi everyone! Just a bit curious.

For the RI hald day selection test, there are only 3 pupils under the Chinese?Mother Tongue domain, including my son. Will there be a higher chance than the others?
          (math 65)(science 20+)(english 20)
absolutely no higher chance than the other domain

they don't offer a place because there is a place to be offered at DSA

it is based on absolute performance in the selection test

if you are absolutely good, you get it. if no one makes the cut, the place will be rolled into S1 posting

Understand they base on GAT performance during DSA. I know of anther consortium house a lot of Math Olympiad talent also. Coincidentally, many GEPpers are also Math talents but in ispark.

Share an interesting finding by my DS, however, am not sure if his anlaysis is correct. During the RI interview, the boys are seated in row of 3. He happened to be seated in the center. He discovered that the boy seated on his right has higher score than him & the one on the left score lower than him. So being curious, he checked with his classmates who had gone for RI interview and guess the position that they were arranged & his guessed was correct.

He told me that he had been hearing abt RI grouping their students by results. He then jokingly said that they even do so for interview session. πŸ˜‰

You mean the attendance sheet comes with their result?

hmm...may be,haha... but on what purpose leh? interview is talking wat,... may be their master namelist is sorted and affect the others' arrangement, but does not mean anything lor. Then does it mean those went for interview on the first day has the highest result?

Yes, I think you are right. According to what my DS told me last year, he can't choose to sit anywhere he wanted. The seats were pre-allocated. If not most of the students will want to take the \"center\" seat.

Agreed its not solely based on strength in Maths but it is a selection criteria.
d Maths texts used r more advanced than d other 3 consortiums.
As I understand it, Geppers don't take GAT for DSA selection in HCI,
so how is GAT performance a basis unless u r referring to d mainstream students who r selected for ISpark.

Concur with u about concentration of specific 'talents' in consortium.

oops, .. was referring to those mainstremers who were put in ispark. By default all GEPpers fall in ispark. All students regardless which consortium they are from they get to meet in CCA and many school base activities. Even project team could be form from diff consortium members.
