DSA 2012

Yes, My DS applied for HCI. Silver award in SMPOS was nothing, hundreds of them out there. School team player did not help either. I guess not becuase of the interview/test, DS interview session lasted for almost 40mins and the interview was done both in English and Chinese. It was the SA1 result was the most important factor.leeven:
Parents can you advise is there any GEP student <80% went to GAT but not selected for interview. I strongly believe all <80% should go for GAT+interview and there is no filtering from GAT for interview. But earlier info from KP parents that there is filtering.
You mean RI/RGS? How about HCI/NY? Any GEPpers not shortlisted for DSA?
In GoodDad's case it seems that GEPper with SMOPS and school team player does not help in the HCI DSA (am assuming his ds applied for HCI?) or could his interview/test the main cause ?
My DS classmate, has nothing outstanding in his profile. SA1-83%. COs from RI, HCI, ACSI and NUSH. -

Put HCI as his first choice and later posted to ispark. Was told reason: did very well in his GAT, entry test(Eng, Chin & Math) and interview during DSA. -

Yes there are cases for GEP girls where they took GAT and didn't make the cut, so no interviews and hence rejected. -

The focus for mainstreamers was on SMPOS, written test, interview and maybe some other special talent.

I guess now, at least a GOLD or PLATINUM award might make a different. Base on 2011 SMPOS result that were total about 150 Platinum, 240 Gold and 378 Silver awards given out, about 60%-70% or so are boys. How many COs and WLs can be given out base on SMPOS awards? -
Kiasucy:
SMOPS - top 2% platinum, next 5% gold, next 5% silver. Assuming 4000 participants, a student could get a silver even his position is above 400th. Don't forget, HCI knows the score and position of each participant.

each year the number of platinum is less than 80

GoodDad:
Dear GoodDad, my heart goes to you and your son. It must had been very tough for you both. But I am glad that he is doing well now in another IP school. I am sure what your son had gone through made him stronger.
To share my experience, it was easy to say then done. Going through the whole DSA exercise was a good experience, managing the outcome was totally another thing. Imagine 90% of my DS classmates had COs from RI and other schools. In school they were discussing what CCA to join, who will be their classmate, the parents were discussing when to purchase the RI school uniform...etc etc. My DS was one of those who did not have any CO, it was not easy for him. Maybe he was not mature enough to handle the situation.
What we stress about DSA/PSLE today will become so insignificant for our DS's future life, maybe one day we, as well as our DS, look back feeling a sense of amusement. :celebrate:
Thanks for sharing! -
Hi everyone! Just a bit curious.
For the RI hald day selection test, there are only 3 pupils under the Chinese?Mother Tongue domain, including my son. Will there be a higher chance than the others?
