Oh dear, you are making me sound as if I am an expert,  which I am not! :lol:Hi 25hourmaid,
I am thinking of the following schools for my DS
1st choice - SJI (affifilation)
2nd choice - Chung Cheng High School (236 - 263)
3rd choice - TKS (234 - 257)
4th choice - Maris Stella High School (232 - 261)
5th choice - Nan Chiau (231 -258)
What is yr view?
Tx
If I didn't recall wrongly, your son got 238, right? And if based on 238, I think you have made quite a good choice and I think getting into SJI as an affilated student is quite high. And since the schools seem to be in the Norh East area, I would say you can include Zhonghua as one of your choices. Their COP was 236 last year and I heard from friends that it is quite a good school. -

I called the sch, the office staff rudely said \" the result will be publish in the website, check from the website\".
Oh, my daughter is also in Rivervale Primary P5. Did you call the school up to check on its top scorer?friendship:
Rivervale Primary sch is so secretive. Doesn't want to reveal despite my daughter is in P5.
Edgefield Primary 260
Mee Toh 271
Office staff didn't know the school highest scorer? Ridiculous. All along these office staff have working attitude problems. -
25hourmaid:
OK. Time for me to do homework. My colleague has recommended me to take a look at Maris Stella and TKSS. She has very good comments for TKSS.Both CCHM and Maris Stella have their own strengths, and I suppose that's where you have to do your homework? How about paying them a visit, going to the website etc to take a look? Important thing is that the child must be comfortable with whichever school that he is going to.
Heard from some fellow forummers who have kids at TKSS that it is quite a good school, but I do not have personal experience with that school.
Once again, thanks. -

Yes, take your time to do your homework, after all, you have up to Monday to submit your selection.OK. Time for me to do homework. My colleague has recommended me to take a look at Maris Stella and TKSS. She has very good comments for TKSS.
Once again, thanks.
Make use of this weekend to do your homework. A friend of mine did just that and drove his daughter to all the 6 schools before they decided on Cedar at the end of it and she's very happy there now. -
Just wondering if anyone has the latest statistics on the mean score for this year’s PSLE vs 2009. Will we be expecting the COP for most of the schools to dip slightly this year?

Thanks 25hoursmaid. Based on the highest PSLE score for 2009 (290) vs 2010 (282), do you think we can assume the COP for 2011 will dip?

Can try hillgrove, zhenghua, greenridge as your choice.hi guys.. need your help pls..
my son got 208 (might not be good for some but still a proud mama). he is exempted from MT.. any advice on reputable schools for express course? we are residing in choa chu kang area. i am really confused now so any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance -
Hmmm... I guess not. Had a look at 2008 (287) and noticed that the COP 2009 for some schools are higher than that for 2010. I guess a best way to gauge is using the mean PSLE score.

I think it depends on the amount of students around that particular range, as the intake is still the same every year, lets take rgs for example, if there are very little students around 260 range, they might accept students below that range. But, lets say for Cedar, there are LOTS of students at 247 range, so they might increase the COP, to maybe slightly higher.Hmmm... I guess not. Haha, I am no expert in that area, but it is a well known fact that COPs fluctuate every year due to the intake of students. -
khchan:
By design of T-score, the mean every year is unchanged, fixed at 200. So you can't use it to gauge the COP.Hmmm... I guess not. Had a look at 2008 (287) and noticed that the COP 2009 for some schools are higher than that for 2010. I guess a best way to gauge is using the mean PSLE score.

My neighbor has scored 247 including her higher chinese. St Nicks has IP program me in 2013 right? I heard that when we reach sec 2 than we would be able to chose if we want to get into IP during sec 3. How much chance will she stand to get into st nicks or cedar? Will the COP drop this year?

Anyone has any comments on Nan Chiau High? I noticed their GCE ‘O’ Level Band is Band 1 which is on par with most of the elite schools. NCH is at the top notch now and their COP is 231 and 232 based on 2010 and 2009 respectively.

If u like to try for SJI, suggest u put it as 1st choice, then appeal. Your chances will be good if you are catholic, or ur son has strong cca records. Is he fr sji affiliated schs? Cos they will usually entertain appeals only if u place it as 1st choice.25hourmaid:
Tell your wife that 235 is a good score. It is already above national average. Believe the national average hovers around 230 every year, plus and minus.
From your choices, I figured that you are somewhere in the East. How about Maris Stella and Nan Chiau? Both are within your score.
I would say 235 is a bit risky for SJI. Their COP was 241 last year, but yet I have heard of people appealing and entering with 231 a few years back.
Thanks. I am thinking of Maris Stella as well. Which one will be a better choice - Chung Cheng (Main) or Maris Stella? What's the opinion for Tanjong Katong Secondary?
Otherwise st andrews should be quite safe for 235. It is affiliated to sajc too. -

The only thing is that Nan Chiau does not offer IP if u dun mind. It does not even plan to like some other schools in 2013. But still I think that Nan Chiau is not a bad choice of schools. -

Hey , my child got 242 + 2 for his PSLE results . Is it possible for him to appeal into River Valley High ?

Hi~
My son scored 186 for his PSLE with an A in English and C for all other subjects so normal acad it is!
I’m looking for a secondary school with a good reputation for their normal academic stream in Sengkang, Hougang or Punggol. Would appreciate it if anyone could let me know of any recommendations? I’m looking into Nan Chiau and Xinmin Sec but I’m afraid my son’s score would not be eligible for Xinmin’s normal academic.
Thanks in advance!
