I really do not understand why schools ask such questions which are not common (or maybe I am a mountain tortoise?). If the purpose is to understand a concept, why can't they use common items? If we adults don't even know, how do we expect 9 - 10 year olds to know?
Thank you for the question. I learn something new today. I googled and found the write-up below. Latest stapler do come with magnet.elkniwt:
In which of these objects can magnets be found?
Sorry for ranting but the school questions do get me sometimes. -

Hi elkniwt
Thank you for the question. I learn something new today. I googled and found the write-up below. Latest stapler do come with magnet.
[quote]A regular stapler includes a base, a staple magazine, and a handle which are hinged for pivotal motion and wherein staples are pushed forward by a spring. Other types of stapler employ a magnet which has a similar function as a spring. Themagnet draws the staples beneath the staple ejector provided on the handle. In this type of stapler, the magnet must be securely attached to the stapler; however, occasionally the magnet occasionally comes off of the stapler, causing the stapler to stopfunctioning stapling operation. -
But one of my stapler does have a magnetic catch.
The expected answer is C and D. Pianos do not have magnets. -

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Common staplers do not come with magnets. Even adults like me, (guess must be very out-dated) have not seen staplers with magnets, what to expect of the little ones. -

I downloaded my paper from misskoh.com and the ans is 3 (B, C and D only). Is your ans key different from mine? -

just wondering what is the chances that some of the answers given behind are wrong? Who provided the answers? The schools?

There are quite a few instances of the ans key being wrong. For some qns, I could confidently say that they are wrong but for some, I am not so sure. So, thanks to all of you in helping to clarify. Cheers!

Hi,
Need help to clarify this marking by my dd's teacher.
There's this question on an experiment. It shows a magnet attracting many nails. Then after the magnet is heated, it shows the number of nails attracted by the magnet is greatly decreased. And the qn asked : What does the experiment above show about magnets?
My dd's ans is \"If you heat a magnet, it will lose its magnetism.\" And it was marked wrong. Her teacher's ans is \"A magnet loses its magnetism when heated.\" What's the difference?? :?
Another qn, there's a picture of sweet potato and question asks for identification of the part and function of the part. dd got right for first part. (ans is roots) but she was marked wrong for 2nd part on function. Her ans is \"It stores the food for the plant.\" Teacher's ans is \"It takes in water for the plant.\" -

I don't see anything wrong with your dd's answer at all !Hi,
