Saliva also softens the food. That could be the missing half mark.

Saliva partially digest the food too. I think this is mentioned in the Sc text book. But complete digestion occurs in the SMALL intestine.

Hi, I am a newbie. wondering if anyone can help with my son’s science quiz.

Q1. A group of fungi that feed on insects and eventually kill them.
Q2. The scattering of spores so as to extend the geographic reach of fungus.
Q3. A fungus that splits open when dampened and puffs out spores when raindrops fall on it.

Oh wow! I only know (I think I know lah) the answer to the last question. It sounds like a puffball - puffs out spores.

For Q1, I think it is the cordyceps fungus. Not sure abt the the rest. :?

My son says Q1 is carnivorous fungi and Q2 is spore dispersal.

Becky has some coffee powder. She kept half of it in an air-tight container and the other half in a plastic bag. After one week, Becky observed some changes.

Q1: What do you think will Becky observe after a week?

Q2: Explain your answer in Q1.

This is a P4 CA1 question, please help. I know the coffee powder in the plastic bag will be harden but don’t know why. Something to do with the air…??

                  TIA.

I think the coffee powder in the air-tight container has no change. The one in plastic bag may have some mould growing on it (?)

Hi underthesea. I think the coffee powder in the plastic bag will harden because the moisture inside the coffee powder will evaporate out of the plastic bag, while in the airtight container, it will evaporate, condense on the inner side of the container and drop back to the coffee powder.

                        Hi Muffins,
Thanks for your reply. But I thought it's the moist in the air that cause the coffee powder harden, no?

Will let you know the answer when school re-open.
