Hi, would appreciate help on this past year PSLE question.
The freezing point and boiling point of substance X is 40 degree celcius and 180 degree celcius respectively. What is the correct state of substance X at 30 degree celcius & 200 degree celcius?
The answer is liquid & gas.
Shouldn’t it be solid and gas instead?
Thanks -

We take freezing point the same as melting point.
(Is there a chance or case where the freezing point different from melting point ?)
At 30C, it should be a solid.
At 200C, it should be a gas. -

Hi bitchymum
How about classification under Metals and Non metals?
Best wishes -
livewith_vanilla:
shd be poor conductor and not bad conductor
Well good conductors of what? Heat or electricity?biniv300:
need help with
what is a good conductor and a bad condutor? :?:
Since you in p3/p4, i assume you mean heat.
Heat conductors include metal like iron and steel.
Heat insulators include non metals like plastics, water and rubber.
Heat conductor means the material (example Steel) allows heat to pass through it easily.
Heat insulator means the material (example Plastic) does not allow heat to pass through easily. -
Hi!
The following 2 questions are taken from Science Companion by Renee Chong (System).
1) The tongue can be used to tell whether the food we are eating is_______
A: soft
B: bitter
salty
cold
E: crispy
(1) A,B and C only
(2) B and C only
(3) B,C,D and E only
(4) A,B,C and D only
Ans: 4
Anyone able to explain why answer is (4)? My son picked (3) and asked me why (4) huh?
Embarassed
Qn 2: Look at parts X and Y. Both are parts of the human digestive system.
Part X (a picture of large intestine)
Part Y (a picture of small intestine)
List one difference & one similarity between them.
a) Difference: Part Y has digestive juice while Part X does not have
digestive juice.
(Answer in the book: Part X absorbs water while part
Y absorbs food.)
b) Similarity: Both are tube-like.
(Answer in the book: Both parts are long.)
The above were my son’s answers. Are they acceptable? Embarassed -
Hi bookwormkids
the tongue can feel if the food is soft or hard but will not be able to tell if it is crispy. u need to bite to know if it’s crispy.
as for the intestines, believe students are generally taught that the small intestine absorbs nutrients while the large intestine absorbs water.
as for them being tubelike, I think it shd be acceptable. -
Thanks Nebbermind!
