Anyone can help ? ThanksCNS:

As for Group Y, they have chicken, cockroach and crocodile. So they ask which of the following group of animals are correctly classify in group X and Y

If it is P4 question, then my answer should be ok as life cycle should be covered in P4. Otherwise, can't see any other way to group, sorry.

The first question's answer is 3. The second question answer is 1.I tried to do the P3 Science exams from the top schools and... there's no way I can score 100 for it myself! It's REALLY tough considering that the kids just started science this year. Aside from learning names and stuff (thorax, abdomen, etc), the questions were focused more on application of what they learn... so it was really like conducting investigative work. A lot of the questions were really subjective.
Some examples:
1. What are the purpose of feathers on peacocks
(A) They help the peacock fly
(B) They protect the peacock's skin
(C) They are used to attract mates
(D) They keep the peacock warm
Answer:
(1) B, C, D
(2) B, D
(3) A, B, C, D
(4) C
2. A Molly:
(A) Gives birth to its young
(B) Lays eggs
(C) Is a plant
(D) Is an insect
Anyone dare attempt these questions?
Play fair - no googling until you actually tried to answer. -
I found these in one of the top school paper which I felt is confusing…
Q1. When an electric wire is coiled around an iron nail, the iron nail _____
(1) melts
(2) becomes hot
(3) remains unchanged
(4) has properties of a magnet
The answer given is (4). However, it is also not wrong for (2) to be the answer as the coil will be heated up due to the wire and hence heat up the iron nail. As (4) is the most appropriate answer, I would think most students shouldn’t have problem getting it right.
Q2. The pull of a magnet is not likely to pass through a
(1) plastic wrapper
(2) piece of steel plate
(3) thick piece of wood
(4) piece of tracing paper
I think that the answer for the above can either be (2) because mangetic forces cannot pass through magnetic material. But given that (3) the piece of wood is thick, the pull of magnet may also not be able to pass through the piece of wood. However, given that this question is concerning the topic on magnet, I actually think that the most appropriate answer is (2). However to my surprise, the given answer is (3).
I hope school doesn’t set this kind of confusing questions. -

Answer for Q1 is (3) because the question did not state that there is current flowing through the electric wire. So, without current, nothing will happen to the iron nail.
Answer for Q2 is (3) because the question asked is \"not likely\". For magnetic material, it is \"definitely\" that magnetic force cannot pass through and not \"not likely\".
But then this is not an English paper. So how???? -
so how?? :?

Never mind lah. Let the teachers have some fun. In PSLE, such ambiguity seldom appear. Anyway, it`s good training from young for comprehension and analysis skill, essential for GP  -
