i noticed the sane thing growing on my pomegranate tree.. and after these things appear the tree appeared to be dying off.. how to \"cure\" them ?What do you guys use to get rid of garden pests like mealy bugs and white flies, aphids, etc.
I also get a lot of black dots on the underside of the leaves of my chilli plant. No idea what they are.
I know that my granma used to 'bath' the leaves of her plants. She will get a bowl of water and wipe each leaf individually. Don't have her kind of patience. -

Are they some kind of bugs/beetles? :?

I try not to use pesticides as mine are herb plants and we intend to use the herbs for cooking. Have been using neem oil but not very effective, even then, must wait like a couple of days before we can harvest the fruits or leaves. And when I see that there have been creey crawlies attached to the leaves, I kinda  about using the leaves in my cooking. They cling to the leaves and even if I were to wash them, it takes some rubbing to get them off the leaves. And they are so small who knows if there are some microscopic parts left behind.

Found a useful website on natural pesticides to use for our herb garden
http://gardeningwithwilson.com/?s=white+summer+oil -
We can use neem oil or white summer oil as natural pesticides. It may not eradicate the bugs immediately but over time, it should. In the meantime, just wash your herbs as per normal before we cook or eat them.
If anything else, our herbs are definitely more safer than what we buy from the markets. We know what type of pesticides or natural pesticides we are using on our plants. Obviously, we can’t tell with external purchases. And even if we buy organic produce, must also be careful to note where is the source of your vegetables and fruits -

Ya that's true, coz we never know what other chemicals they used just to keep the herbs/fruits/plants so green and beautiful. We can use neem oil or white summer oil as natural pesticides.
