      Hi Parents,

Don't worry about Science assessment books being left-over...they won't be...bcos at every CA/SA, the kids will be tested. At P5, kids are tested from P3. I have Helen Lee (EPH), Longman Weekly Science and Learning Science (SAP)...all these are good. Not to forget Science Process Skills (SAP) and Conquer Science...oops very ks  but I pick and choose some commonly appear ones for son to try out. http://i51.tinypic.com/34e93jm.jpg\">

      Hi Janet,
Thanks for the assurance; at least know that I am not being kiasu especially just packed the cabinet to put aside all the assessment books for the time being :dancing: :boogie:

For the Science process skills, the questions are quite challenging  ...I did not get DD1 to do it as I know she will end up,\"Mummy, very difficult; I don't want to do; can don't do...etc..etc...\" So what I did (just my own case), I attempt the questions myself and cross-checked with the answers sheet. Oh gosh, at times I thought I am right but then the \"detailed\" answers made me re-read again & again 😓 ...Frankly speaking, I think I have never been so hardworking in all my life until the past 5 months going through Science Revision with DD1. :scared: :nailbite:

Nevertheless, I am thankful for all parents here who come forward to share and advise; really learn a lot! :celebrate: :hugs:

      Hi Janet,
Thanks for the vote of confidence on Science Process skills. Will buy then. 😄 Intend to make duplicates of the answers and cut and paste on the book to make it into a reading reference because no time to do all exercises. Not sure about section b, but for MCQ, he manages 58/60 much to the dismay of the Form Teacher as he had gotten a very simple question wrong based on his own assumption of the question (sometimes this child flounders at really simple questions because he thinks too much). For this SA1, child only manages to complete all past year papers. For the Conquer science assessment we did verbally and he did manage to finish reading the Ultimate science; problem is how much did he retain after he reads that thick book. :?:

        Dear teh_oh,
:congrats: your son has done very well for Science paper 1 :celebrate: ...If my DD1 can get that kind of result (but I doubt so lah 😉 ) then I will be :dancing: :boogie: ...

Your DS is very hardworking and self-discipline to do all past year papers :hi5: I am still keeping the whole stack of them as DD1's school has not covered the topic on \"Materials\" so I will use those questions as a guide for her CA1 :imcool:

Let's 加油 together as I believe the next 5 months or so will be very tough :frustrated: 😢

          Hi teh_oh,
58/60 is very very good. If my son can get this result for MCQ, I won't be too worried for his OE questions. Son's teacher has very high expectations.

          Hi Champion,
I'm afraid you would have to find space to keep all the Science notes till P6.

Yes, Janet - Dear hubby already grumbling that I \"Pay And Pay\" for so many Science Assessment & Guide Books but he say will \"contribute\" the white container boxes for me to keep those books for \"future use\" :boogie: :rotflmao:

I was at the newly opened ClementiMall for dinner when hey there is a Popular Bookstore at the top level :dancing: :boogie: ....So, my legs brought me in again lah :cheeky: ...Anyway, know that I want to get Chinese guide books and also the Longman weekly Science...so I get the following one ( ) book. http://i54.tinypic.com/2vintyw.jpg\">

I was looking at the content and realise the topic on \"Material\" which DD1's school will only touch on in Term 3 is not in this Book B 😢 ...So ask whether do they have the Book A - may as well get it since got the 20% voucher..But alas, out-of-stock and only 2 outlets have - Hougang Mall and Serangoon! ....Sales staff volunteered to do a transfer to this outlet for me to collect perhaps in a week's time but I was like,\" Errr...do I really need that? Aiyah, forget it lah!\" :rotflmao:

Saw another Longman's Science; anyone use it? http://i53.tinypic.com/2nb7qf7.jpg\">

              Hi Champion,

I could have bought the Longman Weekly Science Book B when son goes to P6…but then the idea of an incomplete set kind of made me feel insecure…so I got it during 20% last year. Because of the way topics are taught in school, I am not able to get son to do the ‘SA’ test in Longman…so I used Helen Lee’s Science instead.

                Hi Janet,
Understand the stress and demand in P5 & then next year P6; 加油! :hugs: :grphug:

Although already have quite a few of Science Assessment Books but can't help to feel that DD1 needs intensive weekly practices 😓 😓 ...She has not got her result for Science but already very :scared: :nailbite: as she said,\" Mummy, Paper 2 very difficult!\" 😢 ...So, I plan to let her do the Longman Weekly Book B as it goes by week so she can do daily/weekly; at least not so stressful for her...Yes, she also did the Helen Lee's book so I shall see her work load before alternating between these 2 books  .....

I share under the P3/P4 Science thread - I am \"cold-storaging\" the Renee Chong 3-in-1 Science Companion - find that the notes are not consistent with what school teacher is teaching her! :slapshead:

Champion, which part is inconsistent wrt Renee Chong’s Science companion?

This is one of the set DD likes and she’s been doing well - even in the recent P5 SA1.

                    Hi Peony,
There is the \"spore bags\" term under Fungis and Bacteria (I am using the Lower Block - under Diversity), which DD1's teacher did mention is incorrect...Of course, I am not an expert to challenge what the author has written but am \"cold-storaging\" it as I am using other guide books to help DD1 along 😄 ...

Hope I am not misleading any parents here; above just my own opinion 🆒

Personally, I find Renee Chong's books appropriate for MCQ questions. Regarding OE ones, Science Process Skills/Conquer Science/Helen Lee/Longman Science books more updated and closer to exam questions.
Of course if the child can score close to 60 for MCQ, that is a great job.

No worries, thank so much for sharing. I'll ask DD to take note.
