Car Servicing
-
I used Kah motors for my servicing when I was driving a Honda as well. Was not so ex also. Mine was an Odyssey.
Sometimes these service centres will try to ‘upsell’ also. During my last service for my current car, the service manager asked me to change all 4 of my tyres for safety reasons as it was getting bald. Told them no, maybe next service. Brought my car to a reliable tyre shop and the owner there told me no need to change, those tyres can still last me 6mth to a year depending on my mileage. -
I think you did the right thing in not changing the tyres at the workshop. Car owners should make their own assessment of the suggestions make by workshops. In my case, the authorised agent (not Kah Motors) suggested that I change my brake pads as long as 2.5 years ago when my car was less than 4 years old. Knowing how light footed I was with my brakes (plus you can see thickness of brake pads), I told them not to change the brake pads for as many as 5 services. I just changed the brake pads 2 weeks ago (not at agent). I thought that it could have lasted another 6 months but decided to change them anyway.

I think my car is after warranty period, st they include polishing, change battery, aircon servicing etc etc. The first 2-3 yrs were not more than $500 then subsequently it crept up. So Ks parents which have more than 3 yr old car, which car servicing co u go to apart fr authorized dealer

Car servicing at authorised dealers like Kah Motors are expensive, but not so expensive leh…
I used to own a Toyota Corolla and went back to Borneo Motors for first 3 yrs because of warranty. Each servicing was betw $100-$200 normally, and occasionally $300+ when they needed to change more items. This was already more than Tan Chong for Nissan.
Later I bought a parallel imported car, and went back to the designated workshops of the dealer, and it was also around $200 each time…
Now that warranty over, i go to a workshop near my place, and it’s usually $150+ each time, except when need to change parts. -

In car enthusiasts circles, we say that you got carrot-ed.Anyone has recommendations on car servicing?
My 6 yr old car has been with Kah motor for the longest time. They r good but v expensive. Everytime servicing will cost me $700-$1000. For a period of time we went other car servicing, cheaper but then lots of problems & at the end it came to be the same
You are right, very expensive... And KM tends to premium it very much higher, even higher than BM.
It also depends where you are staying....
My favourite recommendations are Autosaver and Mova.
The former has outlets in various parts and are like KM, being certified to service Nissan, Toyota and Honda cars. Price is a bit more expensive than regular sole proprietor workshops, but expertise is there.
The latter is my current workshop (I have a Honda too... 4.5 yrs) and price is reasonable, plus there are perks as a member, like free towing service, pick-up and drop-off for servicing, etc. Recently, deal.com.SG had a Mova membership promo for $46 only.
Got any more car questions, feel free to ask... Am very particular about my car.
Cheers! -
Can someone move this thread out to somewhere more relevant?
I must say I was quite surprised to find car servicing discussed under Domestic Help.
I thought some of us have domestic helpers who can service their employers' cars !!!
