Buds_hubs is home today, still recuperating from the usual flu bout'
Ya guys know how sick people sometimes crave for weird things...
Things they're not supposed to eat sometimes... like craving for ice
cream when you're having a cold and sore throat...
... (etc)?
Well, today... it was for crabs. Well, incidentally... i was in for crabbies
as well.. so lucky for him then. Here's what we had for lunch today and
yes, enough for dinner seconds..
Ya guys spicy food lovers out there can agree with me that it is HARD to
find a joint that seriously does chilli crab as spicy as how we'd like it to be.
I mean really spicilicious kind! So, what better way than to whip one up
yourself uh? :evil: With chilli padi as well of course... :drool: Buds_hubs
was finger-lickin' eveything on his plate and went for second round, so i
suppose for dinner will be considered as thirds.. :lol:

Easy peasy to whip up, yo!
Blended ingredients
> Red onions (2 spoonfuls)
> Shallots (1 spoonful)
> Chilli paste (4 to 5 spoonfuls)
Sliced ingredients
> Big yellow onion slices
> Red chilli padi
Extra optional sauces
> For me just the usual Maggi and Lingham sweet chilli sauce suffice
To taste
> Sugar & salt
Others
> Water
Sautee the blended onions & shallots, then add the blended chilli paste.
Make sure it is cooked till it dries up and you can see some of the oil
floating over the top then add water again for any extra gravy portions.
Add Maggi chilli sauce and if you like too... the sweet Lingham chilli sauce
as well, then 3 chilli padi sticks. Viola! Done! :celebrate: -
We ate another version of crabs... one with coconut milk gravy that
tasted like your usual lontong breakfast somewhere... but it was
yummier cos of the crabbies that soaked in flavour together with the
coconut milk gravy.
So i learnt to make it myself, specially for my family.. :love:
To make it healthy and less fattening, ehekh hemm... :idea:
i swapped the coconut milk to just ...... milk.
And
because this dish contains veggies it offers not just
scrummy-licious gravy/soup base for the rice but
also completes the veggie portion for a complete
balanced meal.
I added beancurd, long beans
(oh how i love em'!), carrot & turnip slices. Yumz!

I usually make my own. Yes, cut the dried chillies⦠boil them well
β¦ and then put them in the blender. Cos no preservatives are healthier.
But due to the busier days these days, a friend suggested i try out OS at
the mama shop⦠she says less salty and last longer. They have expiry
date indicated behind the pack. Sheng Siong sells it too. So far not too
bad. And not much vinegar smell as compared to other brands & also
not too watery. -
