      Hi all

I would like to get some advise how different is MPM versus Kumon. My girl is currently in Kumon and now she is in K1. She has been a consistent performer and is now doing subtraction. Recently, her K1 day school start introducing problem solving questions and she find them tough, she also started to feel stress over her maths homework and start to cry when she cant do them saying it is very diffcult and I am not sure if it is because of that which make her resistance in doing her Math homework including Kumon claiming its hard and lost interest.

I am getting really worried if she is under stress as she can cope with the the school syllabus and if Kumon doesnt cater to the ‘problem-solving’ skills she needs in school. I read in this forum there is MPM, so would like to find out more while I continue to monitor DD’s progress and talk to her teachers.

Would appreciate any advise. Thanks !

MPM fees $440 /per term (12 weeks) or some RC/CC centre will charge $155/pm. It is still cheap compare to some Chinese tuition centres which is only 10 weeks. Some science enrichment even $680 for 10 weeks. English enrichment even $750 for 10 weeks. Piano class $265 for 4 lesson only 1 hr lesson.

Conclusion MPM fee is still reasonable. Opt for monthly fee lor. The centre should have 2 options to choose.

There is a mpm maths outlet near my place, block 510 Bedok North St 3. They say they are the franchise of mpm math. Anyone had any idea ? Just want to check before I enrolled my girl. The fees is $440 for 12 sessions. But have to pay $50 for assessesment ( include bag and stationery). Isn’t assessment free if we decide to enrolled? Plus $50 deposit( refundable) . Anybody can help clarify? Thanks

            Hi there

I just enrolled my girl in MPM. I noticed that they have a few different trainers. May I ask how to out if the trainers are certified? I want to make sure they are not just any part timers trying to fill in when the actual trainers are not available. Any adv is much appreciated. Thank you.

was this question answered? I'm also very curious to know. The trainers look as if they came over from work, hence i'm worried if they are really certified. the fees arent exactly cheap, hence if they did not use qualified trainers, :faint:

Anyone know if the Bishan Branch or Toa Payoh Branch is better? I stay in between both branches and considering to put my son into the MPM program. He will be turning 5 next year.

                      Dear Parents

We had such a bad experience with MPM at Clementi that we wanted everyone to be aware.

First, the school teachers are not well trained. Four times we have spotted the teachers marking the answers wrongly despite us telling the principal each time. Parents should take time to check the markings. We checked with some parents and they said the same thing too.

Second, go through the questions with your children. See if the answers are truly from them. Apparently, in order to get the children off the class on time, the teachers tend to give the answers away - especially the last few questions.

Third, we also find the principal at MPM Clementi so unprofessional in her dealings with class make-up and fees. Be sure you keep good tracks of classes and make-up classes.

We hope parents do not just sign up for enrichment classes just by the "brand" of the school. Most of these schools are franchises and the person(s) running these franchises can make a real different in whether the child really get to learn anything. We learnt our lesson the hard way.

Why there is confusion about make-up classes? If you didnot attend the class, ask for replacement class immediately mah. My side here replacement class has to be done within a week to avoid misunderstanding.

Is it that sometimes you attend sometimes don’t attend without even informing? If you don’t attend, at least give a courtesy call or sms that you will not be coming, when can do the replacement class?
Fees wise, they don’t give a payment invoice from which date to which date?
