I have recently transferred her to a SAP school. Not sure if my expectations on her has gone up or is she really lacking behind. I have been screaming at her at the top of my voice every night. Is either she is dreaming or her carelessness is driving me nuts... Just wondering, she is changing or just me ? :?

Don't worry babe...you're not the only one screaming. My mum has banned me from coaching son in his studies AT HER PLACE.
My son dreams a lot, or else makes those mistakes which would have boosted his overall marks. For Maths, he will miss out on units of measurement all the time. For Eng, he will give me wrong answers on 'quantifiers' :x Just last night, hubby screamed at him.

So glad to find you ! At least your husband \"sings the same tune as you\". My in laws and HB think I am \"murdering\" their little princess. HB always tell me education is a learning process. Learn and then they forget, then you teach and they learn again. BUT I am really losing my cool. Is either she forgets, careless or dream.. But on hindsight, if she does not have these problems, guess she will be a perfect scorer And I will be a happier MUM !! 😢

if the kids need to go to the loo, they have to 'borrow' a 'pass' to do so...I was :!: bcos it's not healthy to hold back urine.

I thought it's normal to get a pass to leave the class during lesson times, whether to go to the toilet, help teacher collect books from shelves outside the staff room, etc. You mean it's not common in pri schs? AFAIK, sec schs use passes.

How is SAP school different from non-SAP schools that offer higher chinese as well??? E.g Nan Chiau.

                Schellen,

I don’t understand the need to get a pass to go to the loo…shouldn’t the child be allowed to go to the loo if there is a need ? My friend’s son needs to ‘borrow’ his friend’s pass to the loo, esp now with hot weather and drinking more water.

                b2b3m4,
SAP schools uses Higher Chinese from P1. As for non-SAP schools, I think only those children who are stronger in Chinese take HCL.

                babynicole,
My hubby teaches Maths…that’s why he knows my frustration. True, education is a learning process. But getting the Maths questions done correctly and then FORGETTING to write units of measurement means the whole question is WRONG. My son can even copy the number wrongly from the workings !!! :x Furthermore, he has a habit of missing out words when he writes.

Why does your friend's son need to borrow a fellow classmates's pass? You mean each child gets a pass to keep?

What I meant was that each teacher has 2 passes and she/he issues them to those who need to leave the class during lessons. The passes prove that they are granted permission and are not loitering or wandering. I'm not sure about pri schs but it's common for sec schs, to prevent the students from creating trouble and to account for their whereabouts during lessons. For example, should something happen while the student is away from his/her class during lesson time, the first thing that will be verified is why is this student walking about and does he/she have permission.

                    janet,

From what i read from the Nan Chiau network thread, the kids there take higher chinese from P1 onwards. That’s why i am wondering what’s the difference between schools like this which is non-SAP and those SAP-schools.

                      Hi Schellen,

That’s precisely what my friend told me…her son has to borrow friend’s pass to go to the loo. Her son is taking Higher Chinese as he did pretty well for P4 Chinese. Lots of additional notes to write during class and, have to write fast.

                      b2b3m4,
I’m also wondering what is the difference between SAP and non-SAP schools if the latter allows students to use Higher Chinese.

                        Hi everyone.

I am a new mom to this forum and my son will be registering for P1 this year.

As a very un-kiasu mom, I have not done any PV or research till today…we live very near Hong Wen, but am worried my son will struggle with the Chinese standard as my hbs and I can hardly speak Chinese properly…much to our dismay.

However, my son seems to enjoy Chinese in Kindie…

                        Any advice?
