All About International Schools

Hi,
I was thinking of putting my girl in international school for her primary school education. I was reading 1 of the international school adminstration policy and found I need to get approval from MOE.
Does anyone know what is the approval needed from MOE?
WIth regard -
If your child is a Singapore citizen, she has to study in a local primary school unless you can prove to MOE that she will not be able to cope in a local school. I have a sis-in-law who got approval from MOE using a psychological report two years back (her son is mildly autistic) but in the end she changed her mind and enrolled her son in a local primary school instead.

Mebbe can find out from you the reason for u to put ur child in international school…

I afraid my daughter cannot cope with the local education. she was serious ill when she was a baby and was in and out of the hospital for almost 2 years. There was a delay in her development.

Did she see a specialist? What was their recommendation? To what extent was her development delayed? How old is she now?

Hi,
To answer your original post about MOE approval (I have 3 kids, all with foreign and Singapore citizenship so was considering international school for them initially since we plan to move them back to my husband’s home country eventually), yes, all Singaporeans have to get MOE approval to study in an international school. The international schools have a formal document to lodge with the MOE to get approval, MOE does not have a definite criteria or policy about whether or not to grant approval but it’s on a case-by-case basis. So you will have to choose the international school you want, talk to their admissions person and lodge the form through the school.
When inquiring about sending my son to p1, the enrolment for p1 in a local school is in July/August in the year before he is to enter primary school, but MOE will only entertain requests for approval towards the end of the year (Nov?). I was worried that they would deny the application and then he would have to enter a local school, but by that time, registartion would be over and most local schools would have filled their enrolment numbers. So he might end up somewhere that is not ideal for us.
I hope this helps you, cheers -

My son was born in 2005. we want to enroll him

Can any parents share with me the P1 enrollment for ACS (I)? I have P1 enrollment to certain international schools may cost the parents up to 6 figure in the form of donation. I'm wondering if it's the same for ACS(I). My hubby and I are both foreigners. We have been researching on the P1 registration to local schools but looking at it, foreigners stand a very slim chance gaining entry (which I think is quite fair. Seats should be given to local students first).

One World International School opened in late-2008. It is located in the east at 696 Upper Changi Road East (near Simei). This is very close to where I live.
Does any one know what the school is like? Is it as good as the Australian International School? -
i asked around about int’l school. they all suggested me that if i want to put my son in an int’l school, i must do so until univ. meaning : he might not be able to enter local univ such as NUS.
