Depending on school.
When taking results last Friday, DD school principal mentioned to collect cert after 17th Dec for their school. -
My DD scored 252 , after all the good suggestions and considering our location these are the school choice we've submitted last night.
1. RGS
2. MGS(IB)
3. SCGS (IP)
4. SCGS (Express)
5. MGS (Express)
6. BPGHS
I know first two choices are out of her reach, but planning to appeal for RGS as she is fm RGPS. Hoping for No.3 SCGS(IP) base on last year COP. Finger crossed.
How u all predict ? thanks -
Hossain71:
my prediction is as rational as yours. RGS appeal is unlikely to get anything. RGPS has no affiliation to RGSMy DD scored 252 , after all the good suggestions and considering our location these are the school choice we've submitted last night.

since you put MGS (IB) 2nd, why not MGS express as 3rd ?
if you get in MGS express - she may get a chance to transfer to IB if she does well in sec 1&2? -

the further you're away from RGS Cut off point :My DD scored 252 , after all the good suggestions and considering our location these are the school choice we've submitted last night.

slimmer the chance, even if appeal.
but Rgps not affliated to Rgs Sec.
assuming that this year scenario, going to be the same as last year.
just assume ...
last year (2013) : COP for Rgs was 259.
a lot of girls with 264, 271 went in.
(info gathered)
a lot, a lot of girls with 258, 257 (from many other schools in Sg, not just from rgps) already appealed.
how many appealed last year ?
more than 100, from those with 258, 257, 256
from what you put down -
interpret that you're going for IP, rather than O level.
that is why you put #2, #3 as IB / IP, instead of O level.
in your heart, you prefer SCGS IP (#3), instead of MGS IB (#2).
however, because MGS IB has higher COP (256), compared to SCGS (IP) : 251 (based on last year), that is why you place #2, #3 as such
If you don't like MGS (IB), why don't you substitute #2 with NJC ?
NJC is IP (255), while MGS (IB) was 256.
at least, even if appeal, 255 is nearer to your 252.
below 3 points still can appeal.
moreover, since this year overall P6 cohort performance drop compared to last year, it is possible that COP for NJC may drop.
between NJC and MGS (IB), which one you really prefer ?
actually a lot of our Rgps girls do consider NJC, if they fail to enter RGS
NJC just behind our school (Hillcrest).
not just rgps, but also pupils from other primary schools around Bukit Timah like NYPS, Pei Hwa, etc - they will also consider NJC, if they can't get into HCI / NYGH / RI / RGS
although NJC is co-ed, but ratio of girls still exceed that of boys, in class.
moreoever, NJC A level curriculum had been established for many years, compared to the brand new up and coming JC that combine (SNGS, SCGS, CHS)
but need to highlight something ...
NJC no school bus provided
you have to resolve school bus yourself
what some students do is they \"dong bang\" HCI school bus, drop off along main road, then walk in
if can get in NJC first, sometime before end of Y4, see whether you can seek transfer into RGS / RI. Since you enter based on Psle T-score, you may seek Transfer, unlike those who accept schools via DSA offer. That one: they can't seek Transfer in Y5.
but if you go for MGS (IB) now -
IB track different from A level route.
you can't seek transfer easily, from MGS (IB) into RI (IP), in Y5.
As you stay somewhere around Pasir Panjang area
That's why Cedar / VJC too far, for you
