The news of 2C balloting is out. Congrates to all the parents who manage to get their children to the school of their choice. For those who arein balloting, this means more stress of waiting and frustration.

Congrats! And you are the first parent that I know that wants to do it again and again every year :).Wow!, who would ever guess that registering kids to SG schools can be so interesting. Wish I have one every year to try out different registrations Damn, its so competitive out there... even from primary schools.
Oh, well. At least I am glad that I found a good environment for my kids to go to school.
Yes... the ballot roll calls are out. This year's competitive balloting situation is worse than last year's, but not nearly as bad as 2006's. Indeed, all schools which had an average cumulative TUR up to Phase 2B of above 60% did go into a cut-off or balloting situation for under 1km, just like the previous years. The only exception is Pei Hwa Presbyterian, which has a cut-off at under 2km and has a cumulative TUR of 61%. So the average TUR appears to be a good stop-loss measure for future parents trying to determine which school to get outside of the 1km hot zone after Phase 2B. And for parents trying to squeeze into schools outside of the 2km zone, the average TUR dropped to 53% this year (the only exception being Greenridge Primary once again, which has no balloting even at a 55% average TUR). -

My daughter will be registering in 2009, so I still have one year to plan. Right now trying to decide between Henry Park or NanHua. Both I tried to volunteer and got turned down. If Henry Park is easier to get in, then I'll move to my parent's place in Ghim Moh and register from there.dilemma:
Hi Red_Ryder
I am also staying within 1km of Nanhua and I am really in a dilemma whether to try for the balloting because I feel that this year chances is lesser than that of last year. It's only Phase 2A2 and more than half the places has been taken.
I am formerly from Clementi Primary, I am not sure if I should go ahead and register under Phase 2A2 or try for Nanhua at Phase 2C.
I was also rejected to be a Parent Volunteer at Nanhua.
If I try for Nanhua and unable to get in after the ballot, will have to register in Pei Tong already because by then Clementi Primary will all be
taken.
But right now really have no idea what the chances are for people living within 1 km of both schools.
How is Pei Tong compared to Clementi Primary?
for henry park pv registration closed , henry park is quite different
for 2010 intake pv must register from 2nd jan 2007-31st dec 2oo7
for 2011 intake pv must register from 2nd jan 2008-31st dec 2oo8
nan hua volunteer is only applicable on a so called project basis, if you happen to have the expertise they requrie at teh so call right time, they will take u as volunteer -
From my experience, those living < 1Km of Henry park, will have much higher chances in 2C. This year, all the children that got in 2C are reported to be within 1KM. Ultimately, it depends on the number of children that applied, if there is a whole lot more application < 1KM, then likelihood to be balloting.
For 2C, if you registered based on Statutory declaration with grand parents addr, then I have to say it is just waste of time. Henry park upfront tells you that they treat these as 1-2KM. So, virtually “Zero” chance. Sorry to pour cold water on this subject as it is the reality with these so call popular school. -
Hi All, Just to share that it was really a very tedious and stressful experience to be in West Grove Primary for the Balloting for Phase 2C this morning. 355 within 1Km for 118 vacancies. Too bad, our child did not get it  Nevertheless, I still want to congratulate the 118 children who get a place in West Grove.
Hi Mrs Nai, did you manage to get a place in Jurong West Pri? Any advise for me - which other school you think is better in term of academic? Within 1Km, I have Corporation Primary and Boon Lay Garden Primary.
Thank you. -
Champion:
Champion, sorry to hear that, but the odds were really against you. As stated above, I prefer Corporate Primary to Boon Lay Garden Primary. You shouldn't have a problem getting in there given that you are 1km away.Hi All, Just to share that it was really a very tedious and stressful experience to be in West Grove Primary for the Balloting for Phase 2C this morning. 355 within 1Km for 118 vacancies. Hi, Champion
I was there too. true, very stressful experience. my boy did not get in … -
I went to witness the balloting at Jurong West Pri as well. I agree with Champion that this is really a very tedious & stressful experience. 5 parents were invited to draw 20 lots each and the principal drew the last 15 lots. My boy got the last lot! Omg…the feeling was like riding a roller coaster!

Wonder if there have ever been emergency cases due to the stress at these balloting sessions :?:

Hi Mrs Nai, Congratulate for getting a place in Jurong West Primary.
Hi ctcc, it's really an experience for both us yesterday. Did you put your boy on waiting list? My friend advise me to do that but I think no point lah, so many parents will have that idea. So which is your next alternative? Like to share some ideas?
ChiefKiasu, Thanks for the encouragement. We will consider deeply into your advise.
