CHIJ (Kellock)
-
Dear Ivy,
the school is in a 'graying' mature estate, most of the pupils come in as old girls as the mother, cousins once studied there
Also, there is a RMPS nearby and RMPS is a mixed school and they are quite popular among parents for their IT/Multimedia niche.
the school is quite strong in the Mathematics teaching in that it has a very structured way of teaching. they have their own way of teaching maths. I m lucky to have Ms Adela Chua ( an old girl) as form tr for my DD. Ms Adela Chua is a young, very caring teacher.
as i stay within walking distance from the school, i didn't use the school bus transport.
but rest assured that upon successful registration, the bus transport op info will be given.
cheersIvy Teo:
Hi Parents,
i am new. Please guide me along. My girl will be starting her Primary 1 journey next year. I intend to enrol her into CHIJ. But under Phase 2C, therefore not sure whether will she get in.
May any parents share with me the bus driver contact number? my mum staying at Redhill. Anyone know the charges? Thanks for sharing.

Dear all,Can anyone tell me this school how the degree of donation? Every year have donation? It seem like they need to get funds for the next phase of expansion?
Do updates us the teacher that use the word \"shame on you\". Will reporting the teacher in the end the gal would be mark by the teacher?
had a call from VP this morning. i was busy whole day until now.
she clarified with the Tr if she really commented 'Shame on you' when she collected that donation card.
the tr did use that phase but she wasn't referring to the amount of money collected. the card was not submitted on time and she only found out that 1 card was missing and she had to go search high and low for it and when she finally found out that it was still with the pupil. she was actually referring to the late submission.
the VP clarified that in that class, there were 7 other pupils who also returned with donations of $10. the VP also reasoned that the TR didn't use that phrase on the other 6 girls and why would she comment on the 7th girl.
i believe this incidence arises due to misunderstanding.
and i am happy with the VP's clarification that the comment was not on the amount of donation raised but on the late submission.
Dear titank,
whether the gal would e marked by the tr, this is everybody's guess.
frankly, for myself, if i were the tr, i would definitely 'ignore / not touch' that gal for as far as possible.
unless the tr is really benevolent, i believe she would share the same sentiment as me.
the VP did say something that the school is not aided by MOE and all upgradings/extensions will be funded fully by the donations raised.
PS: the school fee is $11 per month as compared with RMPS or other Govt-aided school, $5.5 a month. -
dear all,
hope my posting of the incidence does not tarnish the school’s reputation.
i am overall satisfied with the dedication of the Trs, P, VPs, etc.

Hi shawnlim88,
Thanks for sharing. So your kid join any CCA?
Thanks.

Hi shawnlim88,
Thanks for sharing with us on the clarifications. IMO, I think the tr shouldn't even use the words \"shame on you\" on the child. It's nothing shameful on her late submission. She could have just tell the girl not to misplace it next time. It's too harsh on the gal.
As for sch fees, I thought its $5.50? That's the amt that I have been paying thru giro monthly.
I agree with you that the school has gd teachers and my gal is enjoying sch life since day one. Can u pm me the name of the tr who made that remark? I will pray hard my gal will not be in any of her class next time.

I also tot that the teacher shld use her words carefully even if it’s not in the case of the donation card. Those words have a big impact on the kids and no one shld use it on these growing up children, especially those so-called educators.
If I didn’t remember wrongly, the sch did sent out a circular previously stating that part of the upgradings/extensions will be funded partially by govt and the sch has to raise a certain percentage. Only private schools will not by aided by govt.
Pls also pm me the name of that teacher; hopefully my gal wun be in her class too! Thks lots… -

If i am not wrong, i think this donation ting runs for abt 2/3 yrs, starting from tis yr.
So r u going to enrol ur gal in tis sch oso? -
My girl is in kellock this yr p1. I like their chinese teacher. My girl improved a lot with her way of teaching. But there is a problem that I highlighted to them and yet to be resolved. Whenever the form teacher is not around ( mc or on leave) there isn’t relief teacher take over the class. Even there is, almost of the time the girls are ask to do silent reading, no proper lesson. Or in some cases, there r given some worksheet to do.
When some are doing silent reading, the rest are playing catching. And This happens quite often. Especially on friday, the longest day of the week. The whole of friday, my girl only attended mother tongue and the rest of the day is reading.
I feedback to VP and problems still continue. Now I had bring up this issue to the P. And I m waiting for their reply. -

What a convenient excuse, oops ... reply from the teacher. I too agree that there is no need for the use of such strong words for a trivia matter like this. I would also pray that my child would not have such a teacher.Dear all,
