Maybe let you know PHPPS streams the pupils based on P1 year end results. Charity, Faith n Grace are the top 3 classes from P2 onwards. Depending on the CL teachers for the other classes (for P2 level, not too sure of other levels), the enrichment passages in the CL textbook are not covered in class. Also the top classes P2 level CL has mo xie (CL dictation). -

WOW :!: sounds very stressful. especially since she don't speak mandarin at hm and still have slight 'ang mo' accent when she speaks. Already startg to look for formal chinese enrichment lesson for her.......that its not too late!
Btw, if the enrichment passages are not covered in class, does it mean that they have extra lesson?
Thks the info -
Does any parents here send your child to the Pei Hwa school day care centre ? Hope to gather some comments / feedback on their services and environment. Appreciate any valuable comments.

Don’t worry unnecessary for the cirriculum now. Esp if you know my P2 gal, she totally could not write her chinese character names when she enters P1. She could not even stay in a mandarin conversation for 1 min. She was taking normal CL in another school and now she has to switch to HCL. I was worried (alittle) for her that she has to cope with moxie and even chinese idioms/sayings that, to me, is beyond her comprehension. To my surprise, the girl managed to catch up. Kids nowadays are surprisingly amazing.
PHPPS teachers are generally caring and patience. At least my gal’s FT and her CL tr are especially kind and loving to aid her in her adaptation into her new environment. -

I think streaming is good. The better ones need not be bored waiting for the slower ones to catch up, the slower ones get a more relaxed learning environment.WOW :!: sounds very stressful. especially since she don't speak mandarin at hm and still have slight 'ang mo' accent when she speaks. The enrichment passages are covered during the normal curriculum hours, no extra lesson.
Like what IJJ mentioned, kids pick up very quickly. -
Hi really thankful for all the advices and helps given
can't image if i were to find out all this after my girl starts sch.....probably wll be
At least can start to find her a good chinese enrichment class so that she wouldn't have to feel stress........
BIG THANKS for all in this forum....... -
Jen, are you going to the lower primary sport day this fri? Was hoping to go as PV or audience, yet they rejected my offer as a PV(due to my preg) and disallow any spectator this time round.
Just venting and feeling a little disappointed. -

DS2 missed the whole of last week, we did not know abt the arrangement till yesterday he came back with the letter.Jen, are you going to the lower primary sport day this fri? I remember last year, all parents were invited. Due to some reasons, I did not go. Told DS2 that I would go this year, but then now H1N1 spreading like fire, maybe the sch wants to control crowd.
Can understand your frustration. -

Actually if you can, start by reading simple CL story books to her. It helps more than attending once a week a few hours of CL enrichment classes. JMHOAt least can start to find her a good chinese enrichment class so that she wouldn't have to feel stress........
