Agree!
Pls don't be too affected by what other people are doing. What I've learned at KSP is that the best learning is direct from parent to child. I know of quite a few parents whose kids have minimal tuition but are still amongst the top of cohort. Works wonders for the bonding too.david1234:
wow, thats a lot of enrichment!!
Can you give me an idea how much these enrichment costs?
so that I need to work harder .. to provide for my 4 kids,
thanks
david

Besides, every kid is different. Some kids may even react unfavourably if overwhelmed by too much enrichment.
My child does not have tuition besides her CL enrichment (note: not tuition), which, frankly, I think is not a critial one. She does not want any as she heard that many of her peers have loads of homeworks from tuition classes and she prefers not to have them. So do I. I like to 'tailor' her revisions according to her strengths and weaknesses. In fact, there are a numer of kids that I have come across with daily tuitions of different kinds yet did not do well academically. Just take a step at a time and see what your son needs as he copes with school. More does not nec means good for the kid.

Same sentiments.

any one heard php might build another 2 storey? some friz told me as long as school building have more than 6 floor their school students can use the lift. :? wonder will they built a elevator like shopping mall

-
For P1/2, dismissal time is at 630pm...no earlier than that, gotta sing national anthem. As for the new school, wonder where it will be built.
My son also told me he only wants Chinese tuition bcos any more than that means he will be having loads of tuition hw to complete, on top of school hw. So I told him to cooperate with me, if he doesn't want EL/Maths/Science tutors. :rotflmao:...thanks to his classmates.
The advantage of coaching own kids is knowing their strengths and weaknesses...but of course the stress is on the parent who is coaching. A wrong move will lead to poor results.
Got it...Jennifer's son is in Sec 1 this year.

Now I know who you are already. Looks like our ds are fated to spend most of their early childhood together. From same infant care, to childcare, to pri sch and now even neighbours.
Yes!markfch:
hi notabox,
My ds's piano teacher is also his speech & drama teacher. So maybe I know you. Would you by any chance be shifting house in sept and be my good neighbour?
Are you planning to send/fetch your ds to school or engage school bus service?
Hope next time they don't end up fighting for the same girl  . Btw, I've PM you. -
notabox:
Oh, it is basically an electronic organ.
May I know what is electone?
You mentioned because of big number, you are going to send your ds to abacus, out or curiosity, how big is the no ?
From what I know, to really have a good foundation of abacus, you need to learn it for at least 2 yrs. And if you stop the lesson, you will still need to practise it often else the skill/technique of calculating might be forgotten or inaccurate. It is better for you to find out more before you send your ds for the course. -
Parents of P1, the school has given out the reading booklet (with poems) and the phonics booklet. However, my boy told me the teachers do not go through them during class. Is that so? We have to go through with the kids ourselves?
My boy is in Widsom 1. -
IJJ:
Which grade he is in now? Once he needs to use the paddles, he will have to sit down.
 I know nothing about Piano...ds just started this year, only know he is in level 2 books now.IJJ:
We set password so that the pc can be logged in only with the password. Ds has no choice but to get permission each time he wants to use the pc.
I only allow my preschooler to use computer once a week and limited to an hr. My P3 uses every now and then with my supervision, the most an hr each time to check her mails/class blog/favourite websites. At some days, she does not touch at all. I occupy her free time with magazines/books she has interest in. I think she rather read hardcopies than on screen.david1234:
Thanks for all the response
hope my son can cope in PHPP next year P1
he's a smart boy, watches too much ORTO TV and youtube cartoons
how do you parents cope with comptuer/ tv times for the children?
many thanks
david1234
As for TV, my preschooler watches her programmes about 30 mins to 1 hr in the morning and another 30 mins to 1 hr in the evening. Then the rest is news times, which we usually watch as family. My P3 seldom watch TV on weekdays. Maybe 1 or 2 movies (Ch5/Disney Channel) per week for her. Weekends, she will watch her favourite Ben 10 and Animal Planet/Nat Geo/Nat Geo Wild.
Someone asked, does PH has shorter weekday, answer is \"No\". School hours are the same. I know some schools dismiss students earlier on some days (for AM session), but not the case for PH.
Janet, Jennier's elder son is already in Sec1. CH6 last year.
Like IJJ, I tried to occupy my kids with other interest and they can be pulled away from the tv quite easily. Maybe they are still young
.
That was me asking if there is shorter school days...noted the answer is no. Thanks! -

I guess so! Hopefully their friendship will strengthen all the way into adulthood :D.Now I know who you are already. Looks like our ds are fated to spend most of their early childhood together. From same infant care, to childcare, to pri sch and now even neighbours.

Haha...I was telling dh the same thing, about fighting over the same girl! Especially when there is just 1 among them going to PH.
Got your PM.

I know most parents advocate teaching their kids on their own and I do agree that a childβs best teacher is his parent but only if the parent know how to teach well.
I am weak academically (still canβt get the rules of grammer right most of the time) and have really quick temperβ¦not cut out to teach at all. The last thing I want is to have my children hate learning because of me scolding them all the time.
I have since put away the guilt of having to outsource the teachings because in no way am I less concern of my childrenβs well being then parents who teach their own children. There is a lot more we need to teach our children than just academic subjects so since my strength is not in this area, I rather concentrate on teaching my children in other areas such as their social and moral skills.
Just to share my thoughts.
