I believe http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/users/aggellim has a child who was successfully transferred to Nan Hua last year... and she is full of praises for the school and its compassionate principal. -
Hi,
I have a son who graduated last year from Nan Hua and a girl who is currently in P5. Based on my kids’ years in sch, the streaming procedures as follows:
P 1 & 2 - No streaming. Remain in same class for 2 years
P3 - Stream according to P2 results
P4 - Stream according to
1) GEP
2) Twining Classes (base on Eng & Maths results)
3) Best in Maths & Science Class (top 10 in cohort in this class)
4) Next top 40 (base on 4 subjects)
5) Others
P5 - GEP & Twinning Classes remains
- Reshuffling for main stream students according to
1) Best in Maths & Science (top 10 in cohort also in this class)
2) Next top 40 (base on 4 subjects)
3) Others
P6 - Similar to P5
Please note that I am unsure if the above system still continue for new batches of students. You may like to check directly with the school when you are doing your volunteer work. -

Great info! Thanks Fluffy! -
Hi,
Thk Fluffy for the great info. Seems very stressful leh.
Just curious if such streaming system applies to most school or does each school has its own streaming method? -
Thanks fluffy. where do you live? I live in jurong and is wondering how long is the journey if we decide to send him on bus.
Rio, are your child in nan hua P1 next year? -
Sorry has been quite busy today. To answer your questions:
1) Most school if not all has some sort of streaming system. Each system has its own merits but of course there will be element of stress. As long as we parents do not emphasize too much and pressurise own children beyond their capabilities, most children should benefit from the streaming system. Nan Hua has been performing fairly well over the past years and I feel it is due to various factors including the streaming system.
2) Yes. I also live in Jurong and near to Lakeside MRT. My children do not take school bus but I know of kids in my estate and nearby flats who take about half hour to and fro school. For example, their bus will pick them up at 6.30am and they usually reach school about 7am or earlier. -
Fluffy,
Thk for taking time to answer the question.
Discus,
I am hoping that my child can go in next year. Now doing PV in Nan Hua.
Keeping my finger cross that next year wont need to ballot under phase 2B.
