I will write to the teacher. Luckily, dd cried and seen by form teacher who overwrite the punishment so dd didn’t have to go empty stomach.

I don’t agree with depriving kids of recess. They need a break and they definitely need food.
I worry that sometimes teachers’s punishment do not fit the crime. You want to educate a child for being forgetful? Maybe ask her or him to record down 5-10 times so that next time he will remember. What has hunger to do with forgetfulness?
Eg littering-- punish by picking up litter (this will educate the child about social responsibility) -

Rest and food are essentials which should not be a element of punishment.
It does not serve any good in preventing future repeats of errors. -

What is your view on teacher punishing students for unsigned activity sheets by banning them for recess. My P2 dd was punished by her CL1 teacher. She needs to fill up her tummy during recess cos she does not take lunch before school.
Send an email about your feedback to that teacher and remember to CC to the form teacher and principal. -
Has your child been penalized for bad handwriting? I am asking as I’ve concern if the teacher has informed and made each & every pupil aware mark will be deducted even when answer is correct. Will they be misled when correct answer given?
My P1 child got a cross for the question 3+5=8 (8 was not well written) & I pointed that out. He asked if 8 is not the answer what should it be.
Same for Chinese, in his Han yu ping yin 听写, the CL teacher penalised my son when she couldnt see the tiny tail at the top of letter "r". My son claimed his pencil is not sharp, he wrote with tiny tail but teacher found not visible enough.
Is penmarkship really important to have marks deducted. Can share your experience if any. -

Yes, teachers can deduct marks for students' writing which is illegible. Do not wait till upper level to correct this mistake of poor penmanship. Even if the numerical answer is correct, the answer will be marked with a cross as the number was not written legibly. Common example: 0 and 6. If the answer has a 0 in it, ensure that the 0 is a 0, not a 0 with something sticking out on top.Has your child been penalized for bad handwriting? Yes, I fully agreed that pupils’ recess time should not be shortened or banned as a mode of punishment.
My dd in Pri 1 now, told me that FT shortened their recess time juz becos a few other pupils in class did not behave. The entire class was punished by going to the canteen 10 minutes later. I will email to the level mgr to feedback to her about this. I hope if more parents speak up, the school may look into it.
Another issue is I notice that there is no soap dispenser at the canteen washing bay. Soap dispensers in the toilets are too high for my dd to reach too…she’s rather petite. I have emailed to the Pri 1 level mgr about it and hope she looks into the matter. Aren’t they encouraging good hygiene blah blah before and after eating? If there is no soap provided, how to wash the hands clean with just water?
Even the soap in the toilets, for those who can reach, feedback to me that the soap are very much diluted…hmmm…the school really must improve on these issues. -

agree that there should be soap dispenser and hand dryer a the canteen wash area.
On another note, noticed that my kid's CL teacher does not have the habit of letting the class write the CL homework on the journal. How to ensure the kids remember what homework there is? Kid told me teacher said she didn't let them write down as most can't write Chinese characters yet. But I thought just write Page numbers lol. weird. -

My son is in P1 now. Today he told me that in January, when he was playing with his friend before school in the parade square, about 4 boys from another P1 class approached them and fight. He said the boys kicked him and so he fought back to defend himself. Then today, one of those boys blocked his way while he was walking to the hall and wanted to fight but my son told him he is not going to the parade square and walked off.
After hearing this, I was so shocked. They are only at P1, why are there students approaching others to fight? I told my son, that he should not even stand there and let them kick and then fight back, he should just run away and tell teacher. But I am truly shocked that this can happen in school.
Anyone else heard of this kind of thing?
