Hi genki2,
My son found the homework in P5 manageable. At the end of the final term, they would usually be given homework to do during the Nov/Dec holidays, to be handed in to their teacher in P6 the following year.
This also applies to my son this year in P1. He was given a few sets of worksheet to do, to be handed in next year.
Morning Star would monitor that the boys does their homework - this is especially so for the younger boys. For the boys who may have CCAs / supplementary classes - the parents would have to inform the Morning Star teachers whether they wanted their son to complete their homework there, or if it’s ok if the boys brought some incomplete homework home to do. This is because by the time CCAs / Classes end, Morning Star would be in the midst of some activities. -
The school is in Lorong Chuan, one MRT station away from Bishan MRT.

Guess I'm super worried coz I hear alot abt how tough S'pore edn is.... but let me tell everyone.. it's actually a good system I guess, at least for me!!My son is in a chinese sch in KL and he has to study Eng, Chinese and Malay....and all other subjects in Chinese...can u imagine??? I can't tahan anymore so hv decided to bring my children back...
Since your ds are in Morning Star, does that mean that they don't go for any tuition anymore or they have tuition at nite? I looked at some \"top 10\" schs P4 maths exam papers n they seems pretty tough..don't u think so? Hv already started giving P4 test papers for him to do....so far he is ok except for maths :?: -
Hi genki2
My son has home tuition at night for his weak subjects - Maths and Chinese. -
Hi blackvelvet,
Just wondering how much pocket money u give your sons to bring to school everyday?
Thanks -
Hi eetsc
My P1 boy gets $1 a day. He doesn’t spend this though. Most days he would play during recess.
Fyi, the school has 100% passes in this year’s PSLE exams. None were posted to Normal (Technical) Stream.
Above Average passes for English, Maths, Science (90+%). Chinese slightly below National Average (also 90+%), but the Chinese marks improved by 10% against last year’s. The other mother tongue were all above national average. -
Hi Blackvelvet,
Thanks for answering. What about your P5 boy, how much does he get for pocket money? My son has been telling his little brother that he will buy two biscuits to bring home to share with him. hehee.. dunno whether to get angry or be happy.
Woah! Congrats St Gab boys! That's very good score and an improvement at that! Good job to all.. students, teachers and not forgeting parents.
Gosh... talking abt their good grades, I can feel the pressure building for me already. -
Hi eetsc
My P5 boy got about $1.50 a day for recess, and if he has CCA, it’s $3 for that day…
Very thoughtful of your son — to think of buying biscuits for his younger brother. My elder boy used to buy titbits, biscuits and little things from the school bookshop for his younger brother when he was in K2, and you can see his face really brightened up. -
Hi, experienced parents
I have a question on the name tag. How do you attach the name tag onto the uniform? The uniform shop says we can iron it on and sew at the 4 corners. Problem is, I'm zero at sewing
Is it easy to do as what the shop says? Or is it better to bring it to the professionals? The school uniform shop says it doesn't do such jobs
Are the name tags just for the uniforms, or should they also be attached to the PE T-shirt?
Thanks! -
Hi zeedoo
Ironing & sewing the nametags would secure the nametags to the uniform.
I ironed the name tag unto the uniform and the t-shirt, and then once it’s secured, I’ll sew along the blue edges. I’m lousy at sewing as well, but I found it easy to do.
