Hi, I have a boy entering MSH next year P1 .. if anyone has a boy going in too, would be great to connect and we can have some mutual support. I found this v useful esp when we are not familiar with the place/ teachers in a new envt... I did that 3 years back before my daughter gets into P1.. and it was lots easier having know some parents in the same situation before hand and we can help to compare notes / cross check certain information. I have posted a similiar note in the other forum index as well  -

Miracle Child:
Parents supposed to accompany the child....bring your cheque book...alot of expenses for the day. For MSHS, P1 - P2 their recess is catered in so you will have to pay for catering (you can opt out but must pack food for the kid everyday). From what is practised for P1s this year, they are not allowed to go to the canteen. They only allowed to play after they finish their food.Hi all,

They wil send you the soft copy of the booklist, just need to buy the compulsory items. Everything will be packed into a box for you. Even the plastic folders are included ($2). They will give you a list of which book requires wrapping and those that don't.
PE attire can be bought at the school, white uniform at Bras Basah Complex. Name tags will be ordered in the school. (at our cost of cos)
Other additional costs include buying of a lock for their lockers in school. School bus(if required). Reccommended to take school bus cos after dismissal, school bus has priority to leave first. Also, the roads there tend to get really jammed in the morning. You also need to buy a phone card for your boy to bring to school.
They were very organised last year....I think they should be ok this year too...heard that they ballot at 2B...lucky last year I didn't have that stress -
> academic wise, they're quite strong too
MSHS is VERY strong. Just to give you an idea how strong they are. Last year, about 82 students got into GEP Selection Test Round 2, 12 students got selected for GEP. The year before, 15 students got selected for GEP. Too bad that they don't have GEP classes, almost all their top students have no choice but to transfer to GEP schools every year.
Another interesting thing is their test papers are not available in market because students are not allowed to bring home. Parents can only look at the test papers during the Parent-Tecaher meeting. Overall, their test papers' standard is one of the highest in Singapore.
So don't worry. Your son is in good hands. Cheers. :celebrate:
