Actually, I have only less than 2 weeks to decide. I have friend's daughter who studied in RGPS told me there is completely no enrichment from the school. The teachers are also not fantastic. It has to depend a lot on the girls themselves to work hard ~ which means very little school support. The girls that excel are mainly from the GEP prog (quite a number are transferred from other schools)

I guess its whether we as parents want to push the girl ourselves or prefer to have the school to push the girls :roll:

Two schools are not comparable... very different, so it also depends on what you want for kid... whether competitive environment when GEP lot arrives in P4 /motivates to compete & perform better or more stable where they have their friends & groups settled for six straight years. Also GEP class may be entirely different in RGP & it may not help the whole cohert at all... Really have no idea @ RGP...

You are right, they are really different and hard to compare. Also depend very much on the character of the child.

I was intending to enrol my gal in CHIJ OLN in Hougang. But knowing that Rym Gym is MCS's niche, I am contemplating MCS though the distance is a bit far (staying in Hougang).

MCS has no affiliation to any CHIJ, which is the main reason why some parents transfer their girls to CHIJ despite MCS being a very good school with very good teachers. Also note that the school’s results have been above average despite the transfers out of these girls(usu those with better results to schools with affiliations). If affiliation is a concern of yours, go for the IJs, if not, MCS is definitely a good school of choice.

anyone can enlighten me if the girls have to take any test during their orientation or 1st day of school so as to split them up according to their ability??

Btw, how does the school split them up into classes?? By ability?? Oh, is there any orientation for P1 kids??

I'm so excited for my gal who will be joining this big family next year!!
