if i have no intention to move to live near Pei Chun, i will choose Changkat. JMHO. -
Does any parents have kids in Changkat Primary? Any comments on this school?

Hi parents
The time is getting nearer for us to decide on choice of a school for our children. I am intending to try Phase 2C for St Hilda’s. Within 1km. Anyone knows what are the balloting chances like? Couldn’t find more information from the website. Called up the school and they mention that the chances are about 1 in 2. Anyone knows what are the absolute numbers like?
Also, we are within 1km of Chongzheng primary school as well. Heard that it is quite a good school in Tampines. Anyone has more information on the school and what are the balloting chances like. School didn’t share much information when contacted and couldn’t find more information from the website either. -
Chongzheng - Phase 2C - 110 vacancy, 126 registered
St Hilda - Phase 2C - 74 vacancy, 162 registered -
Thanks for the information. That is very helpful. Which means my chances of getting my son into St Hilda's is about less than 50% and Chongzheng 90% . Anyone has more information about Chongzheng primary school?
How has their past years performance been like? Couldn't find much info. from their website. Anyone has information about the school, do comment. tks. -
that’s why st hilda’s staff told you that you have 1 in 2 chance of getting in…ie 50%. Chongzheng is one of the popular ones in Tampines…the same goes with Gongshan. If you are within 1 km, although need balloting, its worth a try as the chances are higher than st hilda. but if you are a risk taker, you may want to consider st hilda, as after all, it is a much more sought after school than chongzheng.

Hi
Frankly I wasn’t thinking of Chongzheng initially. Through this forum, I found out that it was one of the more popular ones in Tampines. I didn’t even realise we were within 1km until I happened to take a bus and passed by the school…the other day…and hence called up the school just to find out. Frankly speaking, I also didn’t know we were within 1 km of St Hilda’s if not, would have made plans earlier…had initially intended to move to Sengkang lah…Had listened then to my husband without checking, who said that we could never be within 1km of St Hilda’s (Wrong move!!!) …Until I met one of my son’s classmate parent who told me so!!! Too late then!!!
Yah right, I may still take the chance of trying for St Hilda’s - afterall it is a good school. Who knows, I might be lucky. Even if I am not, I’ll just go with a neighbourhood school then… -
Hi, I am new to this forum.
I am staying within 1-2km from St Hilda’s and within 1km from Red Swastika and Yu Neng. But I am more interested in sending my son to St Hilda’s than RSS.
I thot of buying a HDB within 1km from St Hilda’s and start on PV. But can anyone advise me how to start? Email to the school or call them? Who should we call? I heard that there is a form for PV. Where do we get the form?
Thanks. -

OK here's the analysis of your situation. The fact is, based on the last 2 years' http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history, St. Hilda's is only open to those staying <1km to ballot for at least 180 places in Phase 2C. The good news is, for the past 2 years, for Phase 2B, only PVs who stay outside of 2km need to ballot for less than 180 places... everyone who qualified for Phase 2B and stay <2km got a place. Hopefully if it is the same during your time, you should be able to get a place in St. Hilda's if you PV.Hi, I am new to this forum.

Hi Chiefkiasu,
Thanks for your analysis. But how do I go about starting to PV? Can I just call the principal like tat or muz I write an official letter/email to the principal? What muz I say in my letter/email? Sori for asking such a silly question but I dont want to say / ask the wrong thing.
I am worried about having to PV. Both hb and I are working (our own business) and my hb will travel occasionally. I do not maids/helper to help me take care of my son. If he travels, then how I go for the volunteer if I am scheduled for a certain day?
Do you know if we can visit the school to have a feel of its facilities?
