TC’s computer & financial system

me as a concerned citizen has got a couple of questions too.
1. THP is on record saying AIM OFFERED to pay $140K for d software rights. Don't recall him stating anywhere dat $140K was eventually paid out.
Presumably for a $2 company with little or no biz activities with liabilities n in d red (based on d data currently available in d public domain), who then provide d $140K to purchase d TC management software?
2. Since d Directors hv declared dat they do not benefit materially from dis company, n I wld accept their word on it, wld it then be too much to ask CD to put on record d reason(s) for d company's existence if not for a profit motive? -

m glad u highlighted dis.
Not his article per se.. It has to be taken together with 21 (out of 160) readers' comments--posted under his article--to be considered defamatory, cos, according to Lee's lawyer (as reported in ST), \"Mr Au, who decides which comments sent to his site are published, was responsible and liable for the offending posts as well.\"..
Sure, AA is responsible for wat appears in his blog
So why not just ask him to remove d alleged 'defamatory' parts n any defamatory comments n not d whole article + all d comments?
How can d govt expect open, honest views fr with its citizens if it continues to silence voices who hv legitimate questions but which r also uncomfortable to its ears?
me hv not even read AA's blog until my attention was directed to it by news of a letter of demand served on AA. m prolly not d only wan.
Instead of killing d issue, d course of action taken has given it new impetus. -
Words fr an old PAP hand, Dr TCB:
Doing the Right Thing.
Many a time we have been reminded by our leaders that we must do what is right. This is because we want fairness for all.
The recent controversy of town councils (TCs) allowing the ruling political party company (AIM) to buy over and manage the IT software programs of TCs, beg a few questions, especially when the company may not serve ‘due to material change’, an opposition ward.
This soft ware is developed using public funds by town councils. Is it right for the TCs to give up ownership in this manner?
For the good of all Singaporeans the administration of public institutions like TCs should be seamless when transiting after each Election.
So did the Town Councils as public institutions do the right thing, selling to a company owned by a political party with its own agenda?
People are also puzzled by why the software programme was sold to a dormant $2 company owned by the ruling political party. This company obviously could not manage and sub the job back to NCS.
Another question asked: the TCs have been successfully using the IT program supported by expertise from NCS, the developer of the system. Why introduce a ‘middle man’? Surely, if the IT software program needs an upgrade or redevelopment it is better the TCs, as ‘user’ should be working directly with the developer eg NCS. The TCs already have the experience getting the first software done.
NEXT, did this arrangement having the middleman raise costs for the TCs, which their constituents will ultimately bear? As AIM is now the owner, is it going to pay the costs for any upgrade or new software development? How much is AIM then going to charge the TCs, which now is at the mercy of AIM?
As TCs are public institutions, citizens are certainly uncomfortable with political party owned companies transacting with the TCs
Much more clarity and transparency are needed.

Article VII (4)(v) of the PAP's Constitutions (according to PAP's website, although for some strange reason they title it under 'Party Manifesto' :rotflmao: ) provides:
(v) The Committee shall have power to purchase, take on lease or in exchange, license, hire or otherwise, acquire, movable or immovable property of any kind in furtherance of the objectives of the Party and to sell, exchange, lease, license or otherwise dispose of any movable or immovable property or interest thereon on such terms as may be considered expedient and subject to Clause (5) below.
I think it is reasonable to conclude that the reason for the company's existence and whatever the company does must ultimately be \"in furtherance of the objectives of the Party\".

Oh yes, me almost fainted too when me saw d 2nd Minister for Foreign Affairs AND Environment & Water Resources (pause, let me catch me breath.....)'s attempt at misdirection to re-focus d issue on AHTC's ineptness at managing their TC. -
I think I can leave it to Aljunied residents to decide if Aljunied TC is well run or not
I don't see any residents beating down the doors of the town council if the TC forgot to bill them their monthly S&C charges
(which is mostly what this issue is about in the first place, right?)
Kinda overkill for LHL to sue
Maybe he want to kill 1 monkey as an example to the 100 remaining
Great leader, please don't need to get your hands dirty -

You are wrong. It is Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. Please get title correct. Otherwise may be considered rude and disrespectful. :imanangel: -
