Joule:
not overkill...more like any how killI think I can leave it to Aljunied residents to decide if Aljunied TC is well run or not
I don't see any residents beating down the doors of the town council if the TC forgot to bill them their monthly S&C charges
(which is mostly what this issue is about in the first place, right?)
Kinda overkill for LHL to sue
Maybe he want to kill 1 monkey as an example to the 100 remaining
Great leader, please don't need to get your hands dirty

Alex Au Part 6 come out already

The problem with this route is that it would mean hanging Teo Ho Pin out to dry, for anything less than a stout defence may leave Teo feeling damned by faint praise. His position would become untenable; he may choose to resign.
This would then present the party and the prime minister with a new headache: demands for another by-election. And, as I have discussed in a recent article, the party probably already has enough recruitment troubles with Punggol East.
It may not be visible to the layman, but I think the AIM saga is still keeping the PAP awake at night. It has become a ‘heads you win, tails I lose’ situation.

i am very  that he is not our presidentWords fr an old PAP hand, Dr TCB:
Doing the Right Thing.
Many a time we have been reminded by our leaders that we must do what is right. This is because we want fairness for all.
The recent controversy of town councils (TCs) allowing the ruling political party company (AIM) to buy over and manage the IT software programs of TCs, beg a few questions, especially when the company may not serve ‘due to material change’, an opposition ward.
This soft ware is developed using public funds by town councils. Is it right for the TCs to give up ownership in this manner?
For the good of all Singaporeans the administration of public institutions like TCs should be seamless when transiting after each Election.
So did the Town Councils as public institutions do the right thing, selling to a company owned by a political party with its own agenda?
People are also puzzled by why the software programme was sold to a dormant $2 company owned by the ruling political party. This company obviously could not manage and sub the job back to NCS.
Another question asked: the TCs have been successfully using the IT program supported by expertise from NCS, the developer of the system. Why introduce a ‘middle man’? Surely, if the IT software program needs an upgrade or redevelopment it is better the TCs, as ‘user’ should be working directly with the developer eg NCS. The TCs already have the experience getting the first software done.
NEXT, did this arrangement having the middleman raise costs for the TCs, which their constituents will ultimately bear? As AIM is now the owner, is it going to pay the costs for any upgrade or new software development? How much is AIM then going to charge the TCs, which now is at the mercy of AIM?
As TCs are public institutions, citizens are certainly uncomfortable with political party owned companies transacting with the TCs
Much more clarity and transparency are needed.

actually; I am starting to be ‘relieved’ that he did not get the presidential position
not because he is bad
but rather, if he got to be the president, he may be ‘muted’ by the powers that be
or he would have to answer to them
now, he is just a prominent citizen that numerous people respect
and, through social media, I find that he is actually asking the relevant questions in a balanced way. I find him very wise (best among the 4, of course. TKL is not bad too)
to me, he sort of represents the old generation PAP, who was trim and fit and trustworthy
maybe sometimes, it is better to ‘not’ get what desires, for better things lie ahead -

You are wrong. It is Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs. Please get title correct. Otherwise may be considered rude and disrespectful. :imanangel:

[/quote]Won't we be graceful to receive an apology on her facebook instead of asking for a public apology for misleading the public with groundless accusations? Or would the finger be pointed to THP for it with a :itwasntme: ?
Hmmm...thought only netizens/bloggers do this kind of thing .. -

It has been interesting how the episodes emerge since the start of the case about Punggol East. There were expectations around that there would soon be another by-election. Then, a report emerged about Town Councils' performance that put certain wards in the bad light, followed by WP's explanation in defence. MSM had been pretty quiet on this matter. In fact, soon after my comment about this on KSP, one small article did appear in the chinese papers, translating SL's response, but with translation standard on par with that of singapor tourizm bored, and possibly worse than a web translating machine. One critic commented that perhaps it was done intentionally to make readers confused and lose interest to read on. Nothing was mentioned in MSM about what netizens had been discussing, for doing that will draw people's attention to the social media.
me hv not even read AA's blog until my attention was directed to it by news of a letter of demand served on AA. m prolly not d only wan.
Instead of killing d issue, d course of action taken has given it new impetus.
Then, came PM's message. Everything that had been held, perhaps with 'gag' order, came out in the open overnight. Everyone wants to know what is going on, who is AA, what he wrote, and what has caused the hoo-ha from our PM.
Maybe it's time for AA's blog to start reaping its 'economic rewards' since bloggers bloom by having traffic to their site
(I noticed AA didn't put up any Ads though, just articles and links).

It is well said. What is the point of resorting to such a \"dirty\" tactics for a short term gain (if any) in this case? We should 以德服人 .... to earn the RESPECT/ TRUST from ordinary Singaporeans, not to silence the opponents with THREAT OF LAW SUITS (This will only fan the feeling of injustice ....) ... the qualities of our new leaders are getting from bad to worst.... \"服\"不过三代 .... sad.Way2GO:

I dun agree with what the PAP did. It is obvious they were trying to block off the opposition parties.
but having said that, i also dun agree wif Alex Au. Friends told mi Alex Au remarked that Christians in Singapore is no difference from the Ku Klux Klan… -

It is only natural that political party would do whatever within their means to hold on to their power. However, they should not have do things that would actually affect fellow citizens in the opposition wards. These are also Singaporeans whom the government has the responsibility to take care of.I dun agree with what the PAP did. It is obvious they were trying to block off the opposition parties.

That's why their linking votes to upgrading strategy never goes well with me.
