Tingkat Dinner
-
Look forward to more of your comments mrswong! I also saw their website before but didn't try. I'm interested in lunch delivery for me and my maid too. If I can solve the lunch problem I have 1 less meal to worry about

You mean can order any number of days in a week? Most caterers I know need to have at least an order of 4 days in a week, with no replacement meals, while others are strictly for orders of 5 days in a week...Just saw this thread.
I just ordered Tingkat lunch for myself plus my maid cos it gets quite boring when we cook small quantities.
Took the risk and ordered from http://www.empirefood.com.sg/tingkat.htm
Found them via Yahoo Search
I called Mom's Kitchen previously and their packages are very expensive, I might as well order Pasta Mania delivery:p
Anyway, I liked that Empire Food listed their menu clearly (and I like the dishes they have).
And when I called in, the guy who answered was very patient in explaining to me and listened to my requirements.
Easy to order (online ordering).
Best part: No extra charges if you only want it on certain days.
I ordered for Mon, Wed, Fri only so that on Tue and Thu we can still cook or buy lunch.
First meal starts tomorrow, will post feedback/photos.
Hope it's good!
(Hubs intend to order for his office if the food is good too. Cos his office only got 1 canteen nearby and he hates the food plus it's exp!) -
Sorry for the long wait!
Review plus PICTURES taken by me (sorry if they are blur or not very clear cos I was very eager to start eating and I was too lazy to take my DSLR out, just used my iPhone).

*Forgot to mention:
If you decide to dine out or go out on a scheduled tingkat day, just call them 1 day in advance to inform them. NO PENALTY, just let them know if you want it on another day, or they will just delay the last day the meal is delivered (which means your 20 meals will still be delivered ultimately, no loss on your side). -

I'm at Punggol, arrives between 10.30am - 11.30am. Most of the time will reach around 11.15am.

Thanks mrswongtuition..
I am currently ordering tingkat from Kim's Kitchen. I usually heat up and eat the dinner at 9pm but Kim's Kitchen delivers as early as 3pm.
Any better recommendations? Any tingkat that does not cook so early? Coz sometimes the food already turned bad by the time I eat it at 9pm. -
My parents are ordering from Empire Food for dinner (they like the food too). They are currently staying at Thomson, delivery time is around 4-5pm in the evening.
The thing about Empire Food is that their food are not packed when hot, so don’t expect piping hot food. Food packed when piping hot will spoil easily.
Actually, sometimes I am so busy that I do not eat the tingkat lunch, we save it for dinner. Have not encountered spoilt food with Empire Food yet. -

Hi, mrswongtuition. Any bad experience with Empire Food after trying for 3 mths?My parents are ordering from Empire Food for dinner (they like the food too)....

Hi, nobodya1968. I compare the price for 4 pax and the price for Mom's Cooking is more than double!! Wow!I have yet to find a better tingkat provider ....
...
Frankly after trying Mom's Cooking, all the other tingkats really cannot compare...
http://www.kimskitchen.com.sg/tingkat.html ($300)
http://www.select.com.sg/tingkat.htm ($402 w rice, $355 w/o rice)
http://www.momscooking.com.sg/price.html ($700, $660)
http://www.empirefood.com.sg/tingkat.htm ($300 w/o rice)Augmum:
Agree with both of u!!
i do find their prices unjustifiable too, mrswongtuition:
I called Mom's Kitchen previously and their packages are very expensive, I might as well order Pasta Mania delivery:p
for 2 persons at $400, work out to be $20 per meal,
i rather order fr Zi Car, ( at least 2 dishes, if pay slightly more, can come with 3 dishes but their portion is bigger)
i am sure Zi car's standard def better than a caterer
afterall, they are not serving those expensive dishes, like crabs, scallops or cod fish
With Mom's Kitchen price, I might as well order meals from 2 different caterers say Kim and Empire and I have 6 to 8 'normal' dishes:)
Hi to all those with tingkat experience.
1) I am staying in Tampines and have heard stories abt tingkat arriving too early or late. Which caterer is able to estimate their arrival time accurately and really live up to their timing? I thot of catering for lunch next yr when my DSs go P1 in afternoon session. But worry that if the timing is not reliable, my Ds will missed their lunch.
2) I have no idea how's the portion like. Is catering 4 pax too much for 2 adults and 3 P1 kids?
3) I also wonder any difference in lunch and dinner bec if the caterer cook once for either lunch and dinner in early morning, then lunch is definitely 'fresher' than dinner which one may consume more than 12 hours after cooking. May be that is also the reason that the food may turn bad by 9pm? Is my guess correct? -
Years back when I checked with the caterers about lunch tingkat, all said the earliers would be around 12 noon. This timing would be too late for my afternoon session son as the school bus pick up time was around 12 noon.

I did not realise that it's been so long already! I'm still having Empire Food's tingkat lunch
So far, we've never experienced any late delivery.
The timing told to us was 10.45 - 11.30am. Latest was always 11.25am.
Food wise is still nice and the variety is good. Maybe cos we did not order on daily basis, only thrice a week (reserve 2 days for eating out or cooking).
We are still in love with their soup
