Thank you all for being happy for DS :grphug: I hope all our children will, in one way or another, experience the fruits of one's labour in a positive manner
Now waiting nervously for other results to come back, think the class overall grade for Science and Maths dropped for this SA1. -

:congrats::rahrah: I cannot contain my happiness, I have to share with parents here, whom have been listening to my grievances for Maths....I hope sharing this news will not be viewed as being arrogant. I am just so grateful!
My DS whom has not been doing well in MT since P3, scored an 'A' for this SA1! I am so happy for him because he has proven to himself he can, despite being a potato kid!
Don't worry about the arrogance aspect. As parents, kids doing well / improving really mean happiness for us. It's like better than striking lottery. So we understand that.
Hope that is a confidence booster for him. -
MMM:
:thankyou: Indeed, it is definitely a confidence booster for him! He started to plan with me what to do this June holiday to further improve his grade, including that of Maths!

Did anyone get the psle booklet? It is stated that the results is tentatively scheduled to be released between 22 Nov and 25 Nov. So meaning the results will be released on a Friday, Sat or Monday this year? Different from the norm.

Agree that HODs or senior teachers may have vast experience. However, some may not tailor their teaching to meet the needs of the class. I have heard of a senior teacher giving lots of revision papers to the class. For open-ended questions, she did not mark and show the answer key on the projector so the poor pupils just copied down the model answers as she does not accept deviation from the model answers. Is this learning? The class did rather well but they were the top class. When my neighbour shared this with me, I asked her why the children kept quiet. She said even parents were scared to complain in case the child is victimised.Agree with you on the swarming bit. Besides with bigger classes, teachers will definitely find it hard to tailor lessons to benefit students of varying learning styles and/or students who require more time to grasp concepts before application and further stretching/challenging practices. As long as concepts cannot gao tim, students will surely fall behind.
It doesn't help that she had senior teacher to teach Math or was it HOD back in P5.. but the teacher was totally incapable of reaching out to students who were not at \"her level\". ie. The type who is only good at rote-teaching - I say.. you see/hear.. ok, now do! Then, when there were children who asked her to go through again, (which she did encourage)... she will do it but in exactly the same way. Yup, she would still use exactly the same way.. the first way that the students couldn't get because that's the only way she knew. That's why this thing abt HODs or senior teachers teaching classes may not necessarily be a jumping-for-joy news. Some of them can be really engaging because they know the subject well and in depth and have vast experiences working with students of different abilities but there are amongst them who are only good at teaching already smart students. Worst is there are a few who will tell students who aren't up to mark to seek external alternatives. -
Just spoke to DS Teacher, prelims is likely to be in week 7 of term 3 and possibly earlier because of oral. I am going breathless  ..SA1 just finished
