          Hi JHJC,
When I return to work last week after chicken pox, there are so many saying on do and dont. If u believe these:
          1) no bathing, just wipe/sponge the body
= I think this is to prevent bursting and to keep body as dry as possible.
(Actually I did take shower and wash hair !!!!) Change cloth as often as u like.
          2) use \"snake\" brand power (st luvis) for cooling purpose.
          3) no chicken, egg, seafood, papaya, cucumber, yam, sweet potatoe. (I had taken cucumber, payaya and sweet potatoe !!!) :stupid:
          4) no dark soya. (This is commonly known, BIG no-no on so many races.)
          5) drink herbal tea every day, can try also fresh coconut juice to detox.

            Hi all,

Just like to share, for chicken pox, actually very important to keep clean, so bathing or sponging is a must, especially in our weather. Try using oats (normal eating oats) to bathe. Put a handful in some muslim (or baby cloth nappy), tie it up so oats contained and put in pail of water. Oats will make water cloudy. The cloudier the better. Use cloudy water to bathe. No need to rinse off. You want the oats to coat the skin. Can use to wash whole body, including hair. It actually acts a s cleanser too.

I remembered dabbing myself dry with 'bouncy' kitchen paper wipes when I had chicken pox.. ..much more comfy and faster than dry cloth. šŸ˜‰

                hi jiyou2003
i did the same, bot this extra big St Lukes and 2 x of Calamine lotion.
Lucky it lasted less than 3 days for the 2 of them. It also helps that they have mossie like and not blister like chickenpox. Foodwise i try to follow the advise here tough PD said can eat anything.
(fyi my kids were vaccinated before.., my fren told me i shld ask for my $$ back! hahahah)

DS1 was vaccinated and DS2 wasn't when they both kena chicken pox from DH. Apparently, vaccination doesn't mean one will NEVER get it. But the level of severity is very much less if one is vaccinated. DS1 only had a few poxes while DS2 was wayyyy more serious.

Given the choice, I would have vaccinated DS2 earlier so that he didn't have to suffer so much. šŸ˜‰

Interesting to know about this oat bath. Will keep them in mind if DS kena chicken pox.
My face still has some brown spot. Anybody has any good recommendation to clear them off.

My family is now having chicken pox!

I just recovered and spread it to my son (3.5 yo). This is despite having immunisation at 1 yo, should ask for my money back! The PD said after immunisation should have only about 20 pox. But he is having pox all over him, poor thing!

He is taking anti-viral medication, anti-itchiness medication plus we put calamine lotion all over him! Bathing is a must, aiyo, how to tahan? But I found that even with bathing and could not use the scrub, my body itch after one week! So glad to be able to use the towel to gently sponge off after I recovered 2 weeks later!

We bath as usual and after that put calamine lotion. The clothes also must change and wash separately otherwise will infect others in the home (well, almost everybody in our house kerna despite keeping my clothes separate!).

Now my hubby just kerna so boy and hubby on MC for the next couple of weeks. Just as well since my maid going on home-leave for 2 weeks (she has not kerna touch wood!) and my hubby is at home to help me look after my boy!

As for food, we all eat as usual, including chicken, eggs and such. Don't think we use dark soya sauce so not an issue. Also cooked barley water to drink. Others said Ling Yang is good to cool down the body temperature. Oh well....

                      šŸ˜‰
