About the ESSIS scholarship. The RI website said that ESSIS is for :

The EESIS are awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of pupils posted to Secondary One in all independent schools, based on their PSLE results.

But, the MOE website does not mention top 1/3 at all, just says \"eligible\" and that you do not need to apply, it will be offered to you.

The question is, my daughter's S1 form does not say that EESIS is offered to her, but does it mean that after she gets in to the Independent School, she still stands a chance if she is among top 1/3?

          😐

Can anybody confirm that this year's EESIS cop is 261? I read from somewhere that last year was 263. Does this mean that the admission cop for most school (especially the top school) will be lowered by 1 or 2 points?

I know of students who have been offered EESIS who are not GEP and have not been confirmed a place in any IS under DSA. So I would assume that those who have met the EESIS cut-off point would already have been informed in their S1 forms of their eligibility.

Whether or not there will be additional EESIS scholarships awarded to those posted to IS is ambiguous.

Congratulations to you and your son for good performance. This is a good \"problem\" to have.

A friend's son goes to VS - he is quite happy there. VS is a good school. Based on your son's PSLE performance, there is a high chance that he will be offered admission into IP program if he continues to do well in Sec 1 & 2.

When it comes to deciding school, I find that our children are too young (12/13) to understand implication of deciding school by themselves. And yet as parent, we can provide them pointers but must let them make final choice or else it can backfire.

You shouldn't be hesitant about IP at all. Your son is bright - so there is no reason why he will not do well in 'A' level unless of course he slacks once he gets into secondary school which does happen to some students.

It is important for your son to keep up the good work for next 10 years (6 years of secondary + JC and 4 years of University) so that he can build on the good foundation he already has.

Hi! Need advice, please. I would consider my son an average student, marks fluctuating high and low during his first 5 years. He had always wanted to go to VS and he worked hard this year to follow his dream. He scored 263 - something which I sincerely never expected. My 'problem' now is, should I not try for other good schs too? He's adamant about his choice, and do not want any other. Would I be short-changing him? Personally, VS is convenient as it's close to our place and I want him to be happy and be not too stressed in his school life. But at the same time, I do not wish for him to be deprived of opportunities. I am hesitant about IP schools, as what if he does not do well in his A levels?

Does anyone has children in VS who can fill me in with the school environment? Thank you so much in advance.

                        1) No. CCA does not affect GPA.

                        2) Yes. 1 core CCA is compulsory. Merit CCA is optional.

1)Does CCA affect the GPA points in any way?

                        2)Is CCA compulsary?
                        - if yes, how many?
                        - is one merit CCA enough? OR must I take at least 1 core CCA?
