The school will not \"know\" the exact COP till after the PSLE intake allocation by MOE. I supposed you mean the school can reduce the PSLE in-take and in this manner, the COP will be higher due to a smaller intake?

either way...independent school has full discretion ...if not mistaken, 2011 Sec 1 in RI has 452 students

They will not fill up all 50% during this stage. Not forgetting RI will set aside some places for appeal cases....those rejected by RI in DSA stage but perform way above their COP during PSLE.

Hi Cestmoi, my dd applied thru academic.

        Hi vanilla mum,
Did your DD DSA for RGS as well? πŸ˜‚
Wa! u are fast! no, only let her try NYGH bcos hv the impression that RGS girls are difficult to control πŸ˜‰ sorry, no offense to DDs in RGS, just my personal view.
---------------------------------------------
Hi, I am a new mom here. My daughter was fortunate enough to be given a CO in RGS and NYGH. It looks like many of your dds are as well.

For those with COs from both school, may I know which one is your daughter likely to choose ? We thought we like RGS but after talking to a lot of people, researching forums, talking to old girls and going to both schools open house and listening to both principals talk, we and dd are quite sure she will to go NYGH.

I saw the posting of Gleemom and another mom (both RGS girls) here on why their own girls are going NYGH - it's a pretty good testimony for us: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=12662&start=150

What's your take ? Which school would you like your girl to go to ?

Hi, I was on the forum looking for the same thing!

http://i54.tinypic.com/s1kgmc.jpg\"> I've heard about The Art Circle - they're art instructors in my son's school and he comes back to tell me what he's learnt with them. I was really impressed when he came home with this drawing one day, considering he's 10, and has never really drawn anything before! It seems that have been working primarily in schools, but they're going to start classes at their private studio next year (because of parental demand!). You can try googling them?

              vanilla mum:

Hi Vlim, a colleague's wife is a teacher in RGS and is one of the DSA selection panels, he said each sch has it's own procedure but kids were selected based on:

              1. 80% and above of the pri sch results
              2. top 20% of the GAT
              3. others

if a child score very well in pri sch but didn't make it to be top 20% of the GAT, will not be selected for interview/second test. If a child has made it to the above 2 points, he/she must also done well for the subject that he/she applied for. COs given based on the above plus leadership quality, if one has the above but the GAT was between 75-79% will be given WL.
Thanks vanilla mum for the info .. πŸ˜„

                Is your DS from Gep?

My DS classmates with better SA1 results also have not receive letter from RI yet. So it may be true that they are sent out randomly.

Maybe the staff just ran out of sliva to seal the envelopes for each day.

Anyway, I think there is no mail runs on Sat. So just don't think about it over the weekend.

So, take heart... am trying to ...

There are many Gep students who did not manage to get any CO from any schools last year but did very well for PSLE. I know this is a stressful time but do support and encourage yr ds all the way to PSLE. Some kids will only cheong at the last min. πŸ™‚

ALL the best for your ds for his DSA in NJ and also RI.
