2010 P1 Registration Exercise for 2011 In-Take
-
Heard from someone that her friend had an elder kid in a branded sch. But when it came to the younger one, she forgot to register for phase 1 until a day later. Next day appeal to principal but principal can only say βsorry, see you at P2Cβ. Apparently once you miss phase 1, you drop straight down the queue to phase 2C.
So now she super fed-up with herself :x for making such a careless mistake. -

That's very surprising. For my #2, I don't even need to appear to register. I remember start of year, school already gave out form thru' elder kid to ask if any siblings joining and to complete with photocopy of BC. Later, before Phase 1 registration start, school gave out form to elder kid to bring home to complete and register. I do not even need to go school on actual registration day. I got back the form thru' my elder kid with orientation date given. Hassle free!Heard from someone that her friend had an elder kid in a branded sch. A handful of frens from diff schools also had same hassle-free experience. The schools do not wait till actual registration day for parents to register siblings. It is usually done thru' the elder child. -
Yes, my fren also registered her #2 in the same hassle free way. She could just relax on the actual 2 days of Phase 1 registration as she had the confirmation slip already!

Maybe she was being kiasu and afraid that her older child might forget to hand in the form? So to play safe, she wants to register personally but end up missing the date?

If really kiasu, will get registration form from elder child and go to school to hand in to general office herself before the date. KS will always register earlier than late, right? -
Pen88n:
I'm not really sure what happened. It's a raw nerve. Not something that 3rd parties dare to probe. But I believe that there jobs in the market that consumes your energy so much that you can even forget your spouse's name.BigDevil:

OUCH. If she doesn't get in for phase 2C then she can really kick herself silly.Heard from someone that her friend had an elder kid in a branded sch. I was just thinking the school I choose for first child, really largely weighted upon gender of second child.
Guess there are some, but not many, with children of both genders who decide to PV in 2 schools cos prefer to send kids to single-sex schools. Siong. -

I thought the schools would have sent out the forms to parents through the older sibling ? How come she missed it ?Heard from someone that her friend had an elder kid in a branded sch. Anyway, a friend of mine who has filled up the form for her #2 via that form earlier this year...but with no acknowledgement slip, she decided to register personally on 1st day of Phase 1.
Somehow we cannot do without that slip of acknowledgement for peace of mind. -
Daddy

Just wondering... what actually goes on during registration?
From our experience...
Daddy
We were ushered in by Parent Volunteers to the hall.
- Parents Q-ing to collect application forms?
At the hall, we saw many desks arranged in two's all
around the hall. Mebbe abt 4 to 5 rows of desks, with
2 people in charge. Apparently, one to explain the
registration procedure/forms to fill and the other to
double check our photocopies against the originals.Daddy
Everyone is attended to at the same time. That said,
- Or whoever completes form 1st will be attended to?
during the time of our registration, there wasn't exactly
a huge crowd. Hence, with enough people attending the
number of applicants, the queue was very swift and the
procedure was very very effeciently executed from one
point to another.Daddy
Being @ Phase 2C then, all the results from Phase 1 to 2B
- Or parents hogging the Q to ask all the Qs? (Am I within 2km? Do I qualify for 2B? Do I need to ballot? etc...)
were put on a a huge board at the entrance of the school.
So, most parents didn't really ask any questions. For us...
we were immediately informed that we would receive a
notification letter within 10 days should our child be
accepted in the school. We received ours on the 9th day.
NO PV & NO balloting.
Daddy
Yes! For the school we applied in.. a huge one pasted on board
- Any information displayed on notice boards? (Updated # of applicants)
at the entrance of the school.
Daddy
There are only 2 school admin staff at the school we
- Will the sch admin go thru your application details to confirm everything is in order?
applied with and they stay put in the office to man calls.
The rest are either teachers & parent volunteers. Yes! They
go through line by line in detail before confirming everything
is indeed in order.Daddy
We were told we would receive news within 10 days. That would
- Are u given any letter of confirmation?
be the letter of confirmation that our child was accepted into the
school.Daddy
MINUTES nia!
- How long does the whole process takes?
We were not so lor and had all photocopies and originals produced
once we were seated. So for us it took only minutes.
We spent
the rest of the afternoon having lunch & watching a movie with our girls. -

Agree with janet_lee88 cos that's how we got our registration form for
DD2's time. Prior to the registration period, the school had sent out a
survey form of interest for parents who are interested to put siblings
in for Phase 1. Immediately on the first day of registration, the school
sent in the form through our DD1 to be filled up.Daddy
The next day, i put it in a sealed envelope (scared contents drop out mah,

you know how kids can be..) and entrusted jie-jie with the documents
plus as security measure, i wrote a note in the school diary that said...
\"Dear Teacher, enclosed in the white envelope is the registration form
given to us for our daughter's P1 registration.
Appreciate your acknowledgment upon receipt. Thank you.\"
And DD1 came back to show us the note from teacher saying...
\"Dear parent, thanks for the prompt return of the forms. I will personally
pass them to the person in charge. You would be receiving a letter of
confirmation within 7 days.\"
And we did.. a nice pink slip on the 7th day.
This time round, we
didn't even hafta leave the house to get it done.
