For entry to uk uni in sept 2016 the application cycle started in 2015. Many should have received conditional offers from uk uni by now
thank you for the information. Did your child apply also? Would all these offers be conditional for Singapore students? Do any Singapore students get non-conditional offers? What happens when the student does not meet the conditions?
I'm wondering for those applying for scholarship, do you apply for the overseas uni first or do you wait till you secure a scholarship before applying? The latter would mean taking a gap year.

Many reasons to go overseas :

Desired courses not available in SG

Grades not good enough for local uni

Desire to experience living in different culture

Part of longer term objective to migrate as an option

          Got scholarships to go overseas

          Can afford it

U.K. is now cheaper than Aussie

Some Aussie uni / courses switching to USA system of having the need to do a general degree before embarking on professional degrees like medicine

Some of the placement agents in SG do provide lots of help and info, free of charge, as they are paid by the unis

Just to make sure uni chosen is recognised by stat boards here.

Some do get confirmed offers before A level exams

Those cant meet condition of conditional offer may appeal, but case by case

              Each Scholarship differs in conditions

Most offers will be conditional, especially for the competitive courses.

Those who applied to Oxbridge would have heard back by now already. And many have already received conditional offers from various universities.

if a student does not meet the requirement of the 5 universities in UCAS, and before the Clearing is opened, there’s another stage which is Extra. Clearing is generally when the UK students have received their results already. Would be good to approach a placement agent to discuss the options available.

Some parents want their child to go overseas even though they are accepted locally, for independent living. Also, most of the programs in UK is 3 years, unlike USA which is 4 years, and their first year in USA is general courses which interests the student. The courses in UK can be for a specific program, example Forensic Science / Biomedical Science vs Biological Science in SG.

                        No need

But they provide very useful info and tips as they handle hundreds of students every year
