Could it be 叔? 表叔?
That's what we thought too...that 舅 belongs to male relatives of the mother's side.Oppsgal:
I have never heard of 表伯, think should be called 表舅... but thought 表舅 should be for mother's side?
Haha... what if we are teaching the wrong thing to children...
Hence the confusion.

Could it be 叔? 表叔?
Thought 表叔 is for someone younger than me, so it's for my 表弟 and not for my 表哥? -

There's definitely such a term. That's for the father's maternal cousins. This is how my daughter address my husband's older maternal male cousins ie the sons of my mother in law's siblings.

This is also the term to address the sons of the paternal grandfather's sister who's older than the child's father.
