Glad you hve registered a valid pt on this occassion.
Parents/pupils who are only interested in RI shold only apply to this instituition and not to make an attempt into HCI or NJC, ACSI or others. This situation creates alot of anxiety for other parents due to the ripple effect.
All the above instituitions take dsa seriously and everyone of them does consider every worthy candiate-gep and mainstream. It really pains to see a pupil being offered a place in a sch other than RI suddently decided to appeal out of their chosen school without due consideration that this pupil was not deemed to be competitive vs the other applicants in the dsa phases. Conversely, there are many others whom actually placed the other schools as their top choices having to wait in anxiety over the holidays to know the outcome of their appeals. It has created alot of inconveniences to all stakeholders.
It bears repeating that if parents/pupils are confident in achieving the cop of their dream schools, they should not accept any other offers. -

I think parents and kids complicate matters for themselves. DSA need not be stressful or time-consuming if you just apply for the school you want to get into. Okay, if you're kiasu, 2 schools. No more than 3. And all these schools should be schools you would want to study at. That way, if any of them offer you direct admission, you take it and that's it. No more stressing over transfers.[/quote]Agree with you. I feel DSA is a very good process that allow talented children get entry to their dream school without solely depending on PSLE scores. For the kids, it is also a very good learning experience when they compile their portfolio and go for tests/camps and interviews. My ds1 went for 2 schools, both unsuccessful. But he enjoyed the DSA process and became more aware of his own strength and weaknesses after that. My ds2 also went for 2 schools, got offer from both. Both parents and children didn't feel any stress in the process, I think it is more due to our mindset than the DSA process itself.
Actually I also feel that the whole process will be much simpler and less stressful if there was no such thing as DSA. In terms of workload and stress, I think DSA actually creates more of them . Firstly, parents, students and schools all have to put in time for DSA. It costs both money and a lot of time to apply for multiple schools. Students and parents both get stressed out. Then, when DSA results are released, there is also stress when you don't get offer from the school you want.notsokiasu mum:

Feel Sad :frustrated: So is it good to DSA ???? :stupid: If not would have already got in ideal school.
Finally, when results are out and knowing that you meet COP of your dream school, there is the stress of appealing. Schools are also stressed with more appeals than before.
I think the most important about DSA is make sure you only apply to schools that you will really consider going so that there will be no regrets. -
The main problem is schools allow those already DSAed to other school to appeal. Should they stand firm or MOE give a strict instruction to those already DSAed that they will not be allowed to appeal after acceptance of DSA, parents will think twice before accepting the DSA offer and treat it more seriously.

Sensible contributions from both of you.
Candiates can apply to two or even more schools but should parents/pupils change their minds, they should not hve accepted any confirmed offers if they hve no intention to make good in the first place.
Rejecting confirmed offers during the acceptance period allow other worthy applicants on the waiting list a chance to enter their dream schools.
The above action is the right thing to do. -

Just to share here, this morning there were 2 boys transferred out of NJC meaning that 2 more vacancies made available... Good luck to those who appeal to NJC
any chance for a 255+2 to appeal into NJC at this stage? -
