I would like to know, if any IP/Sec schools, no choosing of subjects combi at the end of year 2. Which means in year 3, must take all subjects. All the subjects are the 3 Sciences, History, Geo, English(Lang Arts/Literature), Chinese, E Maths and A Maths.

      TIA πŸ˜„
If I remember correctly, there's no choosing of subjects in NJC. Everyone does the same subj combi all the way to Yr 4.

Hi, I would like to know what are the practices in IP schools for the following issues. TIA

        1) the split of class
        a) stay with same class in year 1 & 2, then split after choosing subjects combi or ...... ???

        2) choose subjects combi in end of year 2 for year 3 ? As turquoise mentioned above, in NJC, there is no choosing of subjects combi, they take all subjects till year 4. How about other IP schools ?

        3) any min scores the schools set for them for O level HCL ?

        4) in JC year 2, do the schools insist students must take at least one H3 ?

        TIA πŸ˜„

I am pretty sure the schools won’t insist on H3 to allow for other subject combinations. I can only speak so for RJ though.

                1) this depends on the school.

2)Again this varies, depending on the school
                4) Usually no, also some students are too weak to take H3 subjects.

For 2)RI will let you choose your subj combi at end of sec2 for sec3. They don’t expect everyone to be all-rounded at everything and would much rather the students develop their strengths.

For 3)I believe RI has no such limits. As long as you get into its program and pass, they will love to promote you. RI don’t really expect much of its students when it comes to HCL.
I have no way of knowing for 1) currently.
I stand correct until kena corrected for my above views=).

                    Hi,

My child is in an IP school and I realise that they dont teach the topic according to the text book. Therefore it is pointless to buy the standard Express guide book for Sec 1 as the topic she is learning is not in the book.

Anyone can guide me what sort of guide books and practise books to buy for IP students? (I was told to buy anything from Sec1 to Sec4 !!!).

                    Thanks.
Hmm i don't know whether you still needs this but I am thinking that its quite ok for IP school students to buy good books from sec1-4 for maths, since they will probably cover most of the materials anyway.

I remember when my child in Y1 , all the textbooks are Olevel

                        Pure Chemistry, Physics, Biology...
Also no need to buy Chinese textbooks...
They used Chinese Literature books, such as Water Margin, Red Chamber...

And not forgeting no English textbook....
The English is taught like that:

In Sleeping Beauty story - the Prince kiss the Princess to break the spell.
                        Is the Prince action correct???

In Cinderella Story , the Stepmother is she a really bad mother?
