Yes , AEP is in the GPA. My dd is in AEP too JH1. According to her own calculation she told me if u score below grade A in AEP, it will pull down your GPA. Even grade A did not help u in GPA . Her class only 1 student score A+. Maybe other experience mum can helpto explain.Hi all !
Is AEP calculate in the GPA score ?
In the booklet says not compulsory to compute but it is calculate in my dd JH1 result .
The AEP pull down her GPA score -

Why shouldn't AEP be in the GPA computation? MEP is also in the GPA computation. I seriously think that for all these electives, unless it helps keep your GPA up, it may not be worth spending those extra hours that these Elective courses require.

I understand that third language is not compute in GPA score if they don't do well in it . My dd GPA is lesser than her classmate who takes third language instead . All other marks are are about the same or better .

Just bc \"did not do well\", then don't include? That should not be a reason. If it is to be included, it is to be included whether good/bad. Likewise if not included - so whether good/bad also not included.

Here is a copy of the Lower JH booklet (altho' I see it's an old one and does not show AEP, altho' it shows MEP).

Generally if it's a subject under A/F grading, it's included in the GPA computation. If it is under P/F (pass/fail) grading, then not included in the GPA.
I think AEP is similar to MEP that it's included in GPA? I'm not sure about now, but I recall last time, 3rd Lang was included in GPA, but only in the 2nd half of the year, or by Year-End, bc the official grades are only forwarded by MOE to NJC by end of the school year. So most students doing 3rd language only see the inclusion of their 3rd Lang grades into the computation of their GPA at the Year-End reports. This is what I've heard.
It's definitely not a matter of \"do well\", then include in GPA. \"don't do well\", then don't include in GPA.
I suppose AEP is similar to MEP, in that they have to be committed to it after the 1st trial period, and have to sign a commitment letter to stick to the programme for 2 years of JH1 & JH2? If you think your child is not excelling in the AEP by end of JH2, then you can consider not having him/her not continuing in the AEP in JH3/JH4? -

My DS is Jh2, the GPA is below 3.0. is this consider no good?
I guess as long as it does not fall below 2 should be OK.In my DS class for 2012 there were 3/4 in Deans list last term and this term not a single one. Most were in the 2.9 to less than 4 in myDS class. What a toughie. There seems to be only 1 in the Deans list 4.0 or > for the whole JH2 cohort is it true? Not sure which class.Biggest casualty was LA-the Dean is a PhD and determined to prepare the students for A level standards as of now. When I looked at the paper it seems more of University standards. Also the standard for Science is very much higher than RI and Hwa Choong IP program from what I hear from secondary school science teachers. -

Thanks . I don't think we can discontinue AEP in JH 3 or 4 as we were given a letter in Jan to commit till JH4. Think got to meet up the teacher , how to improve and excel in it . -
panickymum:
Oh, I see. Was there even a trial period for the 1st month before signing the commitment letter?

If NJC is an AEP center under MOE, then quitting is not simple matter. Must have MOE approval. For MEP , the JH1-4 are not under MOE. Only JC MEP is under MOE. -

The trial period only 2 or 3 lessons if I'm not wrong . I think we got no choice . Btw , I would like to check whether is accelerated Maths same as AEP ? No matter how gd or bad it will contribute to GPA?

My dd told me that her classmates was given a choice for third language to add in to GPA score , is that true ?
Thanks -

Thats really helpful sunshine123. One of the item in the list is towel... I thought the hotel would provide? Is it necessary to bring one?
Hello!
I went for the KL trip last year, and I believe that the packing list should have everything needed! Just note to bring a lot of insect repellent and beware of the leechesAlso, make sure to bring the proper attire listed because places like the Mosque and the Parliament House have specific requirements. Do noted to bring a neck pillow and entertainment as well as the bus trips can get really long and tiring.
Also, it would be useful to take along a clipboard and spare writing materials such as foolscap as your child will be taking lots of notes there!
I think this should be all and I hope this helps -

Any idea why was there a change in the JH Dean? Previously, was a lady. Now the JH Dean is a guy. If set such high standard, that means only the cream of the crop, and the very elite from JH2 are able to opt for Advance Lit class in JH3.
It is a critical year for JH2 since they are going to choose the subject combination.
Thanks for the sharing.
