Looks to me that RI's results have already been very good and results in many areas (A level results, sports, SMO etc...) are still improving \"in the expense\" of most other top schools.
No doubt, this only goes to show RI is the no. 1 choice for boys going into the IP schools.
WeiHan, why need to make such comments in this thread? Most important is actually the studentโs attitude and perspective, they should be positive regardless of where they get their education (regardless from RI or RV), their mindset should be - To be the best that you can be!
ps. if i might just add, the SMO is not strictly compulsory for anyone.
From what i can see among ds' schoolmates in RI, it's first and foremost a FUN competition for students who enjoy maths.
In fact, after the competitions, they can stay back for an hour or more, just discussing the various methods they used for different problems, and arguing as to which method is more elegant. -

yep and i think esp from classes M, P, Q which i believe are where most of the Euler's program students are from.. ?Looking at the namelist of SMO 2012 junior special round invitees, most of them came from classes I-Q.
My understanding is that in RI, SMO is optional - just pay to take part.Kiasucy:
Wonder in RI, is participating in SMO made optional for all students? How many students are given SMO training there?
SMO training is given to students in the Euler's Program and also to students in Maths Club. Not sure of the exact number, but i guess around 40 or so from each year?
and quite a few of them are \"sponsored\" for SMO by the school, ie. no need to pay the fees for taking the competition. -

how did you get this from the school?
btw, in the link i posted, the names are arranged in order of :
1. School
2. Score
3. Alphabetical order if 2 or more have the same score.
ie, so Sheldon Kieren Tan is top scorer from RI in Junior 1st round ~
(but of course, actually most of the scores are very close.. and i hear it can get even closer in Round 2.. -
Are Jaren Sta Maria (NUSH) and Jansen Jarrett Sta Maria (RI) brothers?

The results is the same as previous years. RI results have always been this good and remains the same. Other schools perform at similar level as previous year also.WeiHan:

I have commented because I saw another comment in another thread asking what happened to that school? But I have now checked and am sure the results is the same as previous years. -
Sorry for the repost
Hello,
I would like to ask about the Year 3 DSA to RI for local students. May i know what topics they might possibly test for the entrance examinations for Science? What is tested for english? Also how many places are usually given to local students as i am aware RI takes in a bulk of foreign scholars in year 3. How many students apply and what are the chances of getting in.
I am currently in an IP school and i am have been placed in the SBGE programme. I am also in a sport and i play for the school.Does anyone have experience on the Year 3 DSA? Hope you guys would help me out. Any info would help! :?: :?: :imdrowning: -
Half a year has gone by, just like that.. Hopefully, after the June break, our boys are all fully-charged to move on to the 2nd half of their first year with RI...
DS says there are a few changes in Term 3...
Apart from a having a new Time-table (as expected), the class has a new Science teacher (doing Physics instead of Chemistry) and a new Chinese teacher (old Chinese teacher left). No more Research Education (hooray!), and in its place is Computer Studies (hooray hooray!!).
For Japanese Language, DS is in a new class with a new teacher. DS says quite a number of boys have ''dropped'' Japanese Language in Term 3 (not sure of other 3rd Languages, though). The remaining boys have been placed in different classes based on their Exam results for Japanese Language.
I have a feeling that DS is in the same class as Ms Tay's DS this term...
