Hi, does anyone know whether there’s a school bus from Bt Timah near NJC to RI? N if so, roughly what time’s pickup? TIA
-
Does anyone know what to expect on 23 Dec when the kids report to school? Do they get the booklist n their books then? What about uniforms? Do we buy them now from Bibi n Baba?
-
Can someone advise what is the no. of places available for supplementary intake(appeal cases) in RI? For those who were rejected by RI in DSA and were accepted by another school. If their T-score is above RI’s COP, does that mean the appeal will be successful?
-
You can wear your primary school uniform to report to the school.
-
The COP is actually the previous year COP.
It should not have much problem if the agg is way up much higher than the COP unless there are too many high scorer in this year.
Good luck. -

Hi Chirunner,
Congrats! Your son has successfully DSA to RI.
Booklist is given on 23rd Dec, you can purchase the books/PE attires and uniform/Polo shirt on that day.
On the other hand, if you want to avoid the crowd, you can purchase the books/PE attire earlier from the RI Popular Bookshop (you can call the bookshop to check Tel:63542871) and the uniforms/polo shirt from Bibi n Baba mainshop at Shaw Centre #03-06 (Tel: 67327022). Ah, don't buy the socks from Biba n Baba, it is very long. From past year RI parents' experience, the boys won't wear them.
You need to bring your son's PSLE result slip, report book. I am not sure need to bring the S1 option form, PSLE cert and the S1 verification Slip or not, but I will bring, just in case.
The kids are supposed to wear their Primary school uniform on 23rd Dec.
I think we need to submit the Higher Mother Tongue form on 23rd Dec, too. -

A lot of forms to be collected, some need to hand in straight away, some can hand in on the first day of school. Make sure you don't miss any.
Then a talk for parents. After that the book and uniforms will be on sale.
Mind you, it is rather chaotic when come to this as there will be very long queues. I actually went to Bibi Baba, the outlet in Shaw Centre to get the uniforms beforehand.
If you are driving, go there a bit early, otherwise may not be able to find a parking lot.
When school starts in January, there will also be a series of talks for parents to attend, like choosing CCA that sorts of talk. -
Thanks for your replies fruitplus n Bumblebee! yes I’ll be kiasu n get all these before the 23rd:-)
One more question: are the GE kids required to do HCL? -
fruitplus:
There are many projects, for history, geog, chinese, maths and english. There's also a research education project which take place over the entire year.Hi mathspark,
So the Math textbooks no need to buy. Thanks! So the Maths teacher gave out notes to the Sec 1?
I wonder is there any changes in the booklist for Sec 1 next year? I was thinking of getting the textbooks early, then get my not so hardworking son to go thru some topics early. I've copied down the booklist you posted in Dec last year Very helpful indeed, I found out that my Sec 3 girl can pass some of her old text books to DS. We can save a bit of $$, thank you!
How is your son coping? Is he enjoying his lessons in school ?
Is there a lot of project works in 1st year? What kind of project work is it?
Oh, is there a need to buy notebook for DS? Do they use computer to work on project very regularly?
Is RI a 'Future school' ? Some Sec schools are using the Fujitsu Tablet PCs b'cos they are the 'Future school'. The tablet PC is so costly ($3k+) and heavy!
Thank you in advance!
Computers aren't necessary, as most projects will not require computers to be used at school. -
Thank you very much Sonshine !
Looking at your Id, you must be very proud of your son.
