Parents, did your kid’s Math teacher explain how to differentiate the type of volume questions that will be tested vs excluded? My kid’s teacher was unable to answer, neither my kid’s tutor (current school Math teacher) is able to.

As a result I wrote in to SEAB but disappointed by the half baked reply. As parents, we want to know how to differentiate P5 vs P6 volume questions. If school can give a clear guideline, we do not need to contact MOE/ SEAB. Now, SEAB wants us to check with the school again. This is so confusing! 😓

At my end, I flipped through P5 SA2 TOP school papers and compare with P6 prelim questions for volume, there is no difference. In fact, some of the P5 volume questions are more challenging.

I found this from the MOE website.

Thank you very much MerlionInGermany! I asked my girl to share this info with her friends too. They thought they can skip volume because it will not be tested, forgetting that they also learned Volume in P5. A large portion of volume was in fact covered in P5. It is safer to draw a conclusion that Volume is tested. The communication from MOE is misleading. 😓

Maybe B average students can apply to 22x to 23x schools, especially those that take in their own affiliated students at tscore of 200.

I have a question regarding the topic Volume which will taken out from PSLE. I understand P6 volume will not be tested but there is volume covered in P5 too.

How do we differentiate which type of volume questions are under P6 syllabus (not tested) versus those from P5 (tested)?

      Hi 2eclipse,

What's her scores and achievements? Maybe SNGS O level track maybe worth a try?
Her results are just average so we are better off choosing those slightly above average schools.

SNGS Chinese standard is very high but my girl’s chinese is simply cannot make it. She already put in a lot of effort but still can only manage a B, low 70. Other subjects are 80+.

Finally we have submitted the DSA application to 2 schools only. The application is much easier than what I thought.

Do all schools require the personal statement? When should the kids start preparing? I think it is a waste of time if eventually my girl is not even selected for interview.

Some students are asking teachers for testimonials but do we really need to trouble the teachers for something I feel is really kind of artificial? I do not understand why secondary schools like to read flowery write up of a student. 😓

Most schools do not require personal statement. Most schools do not require testimonials from teachers.

Visit the websites of the 2 schools you applied to find out about their DSA requirements. Some schools list detailed criteria/ requirements while others will probably send the info to the shortlisted candidates later.

All the best to your girl!

Thank you coast. Will check it from the school’s website.
