My gal is getting more and more vain. Whenever she goes enrichment classes during weekends, she will fuss over what clothes to wear or whether the shoes match her attire, find matching hair clips, necklace, bracelet, etc.
My hubby blame it on me coz since my gal was a toddler, i would doll her up like a barbie doll…I enjoyed every moment of it. He said i cultivated her "vain-pot" characters…Recently, she even requested to her fingernails painted coz "they look yucky without shine" (apparently her CCC’s mates painted their nails and she would like to follow suit).
I am at a dilema now…i thought her behaviour is normal as it’s typical for gals to be conscious about their appearances right? But on the other hand, I’m also afraid my gal overdo it…what do you all think?

btw, how about supermarkets? coz i thinking of buying diapers and milk powder (Mamil Gold with Honey Step 3) when i reach Genting so as to reduce the weight of my luggage....I haven start packing yet but i can foresee that i'll be bringing tonnes of things....medication for me alone will take up a big part of my luggage...I'll be bringing my medication for heartburn/indigestion, fever/pain (paracetamol), constipation, giddiness/vomitting, etc...got any barang barang that is MUST Bring one? anyone out there pls share.....
So far, I've heard some negative stories like eating chicken rice at Yong Ping (dunno the correct spelling) and got diarrhea...scary leh....wonder how i can tahan if i got diarrhea in the midst of the journey!!! 6hrs of road travelling.. Also heard about yucky toilet condition (even those within shopping complex) and all squatting ones...nearly faint coz i dun think i can squat for long now....and people smoking even inside air-con shopping complex (not casino).....btw...any rule that bans preggy woman into the casino?

RE: Travel: Malaysia - Genting
Thank you all for the wonderful tips and advices. Forgot the check \"Notify me when a reply is posted\" Thought nobody bothered to advise....hhahah anyway I really appreciate your sharing....
I've gotten the green light from my gynae to travel....hahha...so happy...
My maid's from Indonesia, will bring her passport and work permit...
We'll be travelling by coach... still considering whether to take the 26 seater (with no entertainment & massage chair) or top up $35 for 26 or 18 seater with entertainment & massage chair. Anyway will be bringing the portable DVD to kill time...
As for hotel, we've got no choice since the package is tied to First World Hotel...I really cross my finger that we'll be given a good room (package is Deluxe room), preferably Tower 2.....the tip about \"jumping queue\" hope that i can exercise this privilege...hahhaa...
Theme park pass, ya likely we'll take the day pass for indoor...can pre-ampt the excitement my kids will \"exhibit\"....hhahhaha imagine the ferris wheel in downtown east already drive them to crazy screams!!! not to mention the carousel, rides, etc......
how about food...? any good recommendations, pls share??? -
Travel: Malaysia - Genting
Planning for a short getaway to Genting (3days 2night) in Aug…Besides my family (hubby, Me, 3yr gal, 2 yr son & maid), my in-laws and relatives will be coming along…Can you share your experience with me? Is Genting "child-friendly"? What about First World Hotel? I’ve got some concern becoz:
1) I am 4 mths preggy now…dunno whether i can tahan the 6hrs drive to Genting in the coach? ever since my pregnancy, i have not travel more than 2hrs but i look at preggy mummies flying to Hongkong, Japan, etc at ease, if they can do it, i think i shld be able right ? Any preggy mummies to share your experience?
2) I am bringing my maid along, is there any special permit, etc that i need to take out before she leave Singapore with us?
3) My son is still drinking formula milk, not sure whether First World Hotel include electric kettle to boil water? Those who has stayed at this hotel before, pls share your experience with me…like things to request from hotel before hand, what type of room, etc…
4) Which theme park, rides more appropriate for my 2 children? is it worth it to get the day pass?
Thank you in advance & have a fulfilling and stress free Monday ahead!! -

the busybee,Hi Admummy,
I checked up Berbes on google map, it's near Bandung right? To be sure ask your helper where's the nearest airport to her home - Jakarta or Bandung. You can get tickets form Airasia- direct return flights to Bandung, around S$100 only. No point pay the agents for such service fees unless they provide transfer for you (to and fro airport/your home). Jetstar has got flights to Jakarta too.
The last time I sent my helper home in 2006 was on Jetstar or Adam Air(bankrupt already), during the Raya period, I think paid around S$200+. According to her she was detained at the Jakarta airport for a night as she refused to pay them some kinda tax/fees. The next day the airport police consolidated the group of passengers to get them to board a bus home, it's like compulsory to let them organize the transport (i think the police put it as 'safety reason', to me they want to earn some extra cash), even her husband can't pick her up..... I don't know how it is like now...
I've checked with my maid, she said to stop at Jakarta more convenient....i went to Five Star to check the air ticket....It's S$404...biang i din expect it to be so expensive leh....your maid's experience sound scary leh....be detained? Aiyo, her trip back to Java really made me so worried....I am so scared of her safety leh (she sometimes quite blur one)..really pray that she will come back safely and no hiccups throughout her journey.....so scared that something will happen to her... -
RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Jav:
Jav,Hi Admummy,
When is your maid planning to go back? Mine is going back in Sept during their new year time & she requested to convert SGD 1,000 to Rp. which is about Rp. 7 mil, it is not a lot as she has to spend at least Rp. 50% of it on domestic transportation.
my maid will be away one week before & after Hari Raya i.e. betw 13 to 26 Sep...wow 50% (i.e. S$500??) spent on domestic transportation is really expensive leh....poor gal, that is almost 1.5mths of her pay!!! why so expensive?!!! I am paying for her air ticket, must i absorb this portion of the transportation as well?

thebusybee, appreciate your reply on this:Admummy
It's a right move that you hold some money to entice her to come back. Also don't forget to endorse her passport at the Indo embassy. (I only know about it recently, I guess my prev one din rtn due to this)
http://www.kbrisingapura.com/maid_leave.php?lang=eng#4
i've received my maid's new passport. There is a white sticker pasted in one of the page. It's all written in Malay with my address printed on that sticker. I am not sure is the white sticker the \"endorsement\" u referring to? Tried calling the embassy, beyond hope....the receiver hardly understand english at all!!
anyone else:
Next, when u sent your maid back, where u buy air ticket ah?travelling insurance? My maid stay in Brebes (central Java if not wrong??) got good lobang to recommend? I tried calling the agency for help but they charge administrative cost for the service which is not worth it lor...
If my maid intends to take home S$1500, how much do u think I should convert into cash for her...i know she still need to take cab or bus back that will need some INDO cash right? the remaining portion by western union to bank account then she draw from the bank, is this appropriate, coz i scared too much cash not safe in Java?
I intend to give her one of my luggage bag to pack all her things for her trip back but she seems reluctant and prefer to use the red, white, blue stripes kind of bag and handcarry it....what do u guys think, wonder why she so reluctant to use luggage bag (with rollers) considering the amount of stuff she need to carry?
What are some of the Do's and Don'ts that I need to highlight to her? Brainstorming (hygiene dun get infected with H1N1, drugs, what else???)
