can I just check if I can enter the CCMC route, I need to serve at least 1 yr as EM before I can qualify to apply under Phase 2b?


If the GRC I volunteer in is not the area I stay, is it still possible to go under 2b for a sch I reside in? (assumming I am a CCMC member)

Juz wanna vent my frustrations here on i-creative learner. I spoke to a lady this morning. Think itz mrs tan. I merely enquried whether for the clementi ctr new class for 2007 child, wld it b a new teacher tat will be teachg tis class. She dun wan to answer my question directly, kept sayg it will either be Teacher Jovin takg over or the new teacher will take over. I oso asked abt whether the new teacher wld hv the experience to teach a class. She simply replied me tat if I m uncomfortable, then I dun sign up at all. Afterall many ple r more than willing to take over my slot. So arrogant. R the ple in this ctr like tat? I noe fr the forum replies, tey are gd. Bt do tey need to be so cocky?

Okie... will check wif my ger's eng teacher tmr to see if tey r learng the full letterland syllabus for these 4 yrs. Coz I casually ask her teacher ytd on wat tey r learng for this whole yr. She told mi oni single letter sounds. Oni next yr term 4 wld tey b intro to word blendg. Seem v slow leh. The sch takg 1.75 yrs to teach them single sounds? Coz my ger oredi can recognise all her ABC & abc & even the phonics nw. Scare the sch's pace too slow, then she will be bored. Nw tat she's v interested to learn new things, tot I better strike while iron hot & let her learn more. Tatz y i'm askg abt montessori. Tot montessori can speed things up a wee bit?

Btw... any gd montessori sch to recommend?

My ger is wif Pat's nw. I dunno if she'll be learning the complete letterland phonics curriculum coz I neber really ask her teacher :oops: . So I tot mayb I can send her to montessori to reinforce watever is taught in Pat's.
I read Tamarind's blog & tot the montessori enrichment class she sent her DD to seems v gd wif blendg words. tot mayb thru montessori, I can expose my ger to further aspects of phonics tat letterland is lacking? On the other hand, was oso thinkg mayb both Letterland & montessori can compliment her learning curve in phonics. Think I kiasu champion liao

My ger is currently learng letterland phonics in sch. She’ll b 3 yrs old tis yr. Teacher at sch is teachg them the names of the alphabets nw & their sound, like Jumping Jim says jer. Guess next yr when she’s in nursery, the teacher will then teach them blendg of words.

If I were to send my ger to montersori phonics class nw, will the 2 methods confuse the kids?

Thanks again for further clarification. Guess what! I found out that from postal code, there isn't any NC in my estate. Managed to speak with someone v. helpful at Ulu Pandan CC and he elaborated further. So, too bad, I can't even choose this route to be eligible in Phase 2B. For the benefit of others who also stay in private estate like me, you can start your own NC with at least 10 members and do the work and I think you will straight become EM lor.... just my guess only (so you must plan very early, say if your kiddo is still 2 years old, I think still have time form one)

whether ur place has an NC or nt doesn't matter. As long as u choose 1 NC in ur ward can still get EM eventually

Yes, if u do not wish to ballot under phase 2B for aitong, it is safer to move within 1km as it balloted for 1-2 km for the last 2 years.


CHIJ(TP) only balloted under 2B for those staying out of 2km for last 3 yrs, so u are quite safe if u stay 1-2 km.

DO note these are based on past years trends. Actual balloting distance required during ur year of registration may differ.
